My reaction to seeing that picture - OUCH!!!

But since gender has been bought up I think we've forgotten one other combination, Male/male.

I'll stick with my answer concerning Females being more sadistic with other females, but the only other time I've seen results similar to the picture you posted was a Male Master and His male slave.

Is it because we feel know better what our own gender can withstand?

I don't think that it is gender specific. Personally.. intensity of any level doesn't bother Me.. provided that its within the framework that has been discussed. I can be truly sadistic.. far more than my wife... and she is quite the sadist... and yes more sadistic than the majority of those that I've encountered in R/L in NYC.

When I am really sadistic.. its about objectifying and creating a fetish out of the pain or the mark.. or whatever.

I don't "need" to be... and it really isn't more enjoyable necessarily.. but I just can be, sometimes. When I do it's more for "them" than Me.. anyway.. just pushing a boundary back.

Being a straight male sub who has been played by both males and females, I haven't experienced any difference between the level of play by either.

Having said that, I do find FemDoms more inventive and, yes, playful. I have one female play partner who delights in hanging bells from ping and pong and making the bells ring. Which brings up the point that the FemDoms also have no hesitation in going after the dangly bits whereas the guys don't. This may be because the guys just can't bear the thought of anyone going after their dangly bits. Of course it depends on the people who are playing and what they enjoy. I love to be strict, sensual, sadistic and caring at the same time, however within that scope I'm likely to treat a timid little sissy slut who just likes silky stockings very differently than a heavy masochist. I never compare myself to Masters or other Mistresses anyway. What matters is the person in the room with me.

i have seen both male and female dominants play, and their methods seem quite different to me. i hope that the original question wasn't intended to establish which gender can be more sadistic. But, having said that, and not meaning to be too politically or socially incorrect, the only thing that comes to my mind is that male doms play more sexually, while female dommes play more sensually (semantics once again). Of course there are always exceptions to this, but i've been at parties and other social events, and have watched both genders play. i don't belive that either one plays any heavier than the other, since it has more to do with the particular style of the dom or domme. And yes, i agree that it really depends upon who are playing and what they enjoy, since that is really the main objective.

That's certainly true in my case as I like the teasing aspect of indirect sexuality. Sensuality is about all it takes to get most men (and women too) as worked up as they need to be. Playing as sexually as some doms do would just seem like overkill. Of course, one draws the sensual/sexual line in different places with different people.
