Les Paul was a great musician and a major inventor. He will be missed.

Wow, I usually don't get into these dead threads, but Les Paul gave my Uncle guitar lessons.

Les Paul taught many pro musicians, and pioneered overdubbing. With overdubbing you could play with yourself :-). I know a guy made a tape, wrote the song and played every part of it onto a four track. Sounds like a whole band, but it's all one guy. Laid down the drum track, then bass, then guitar, keyboard and then sung it. All one guy and Les Paul started it.

You might have to do without me tonight, I might break out the electric guitar in effigy. Les Paul was pretty much responsible for those. At first they rejected the idea and he went on his merry way, but after a little while guess who's phone rang ?

He had an interesting carreer, and now he rests. He was getting old and nobody lives forever, but he left his mark on the world. I would hope to do something before I die to be remembered that way. Maybe if I had had the chance to show Mr. Paul some of the chords I made up I would be. I mean full six or five string chords that actually sound good on an electric. Some say anyone can play an electric, it's harder to play an acoustic. They are not 100% right. There are certain types of chords that only work on an acoustic.

It would have been really interesting to meet the Man, so much for that. I don't pretend to mourn, I didn't know him, but there is that sense of loss.

A huge loss to the world of modern music. He was a Wisconsin native so that made big news around here today. He will be missed.

Sad day but what a great life he lived. I got to meet him and see him perform a few years ago. Lester was just a great guy and will be missed.
