i'm looking for suggestion.....realistic ones...
i have no thyroid...None... No part of it...All of it was surgically removed years ago....
Because of a pharmaceutical corruption crap the original thyroid medication i was on has not been available for about three week. i've done research and located another natural thyroid... {Most of the well known thyroid medication are synthetic medications.... which on their own do not work for me}. My doctor was more than willing to prescribe it for me. However since then i feel like i've been fucked over and over and over by either the pharmacy the nursing staff at my doctor's office or both daily since then......
Meanwhile i'm just growing sicker and sicker.. Physically i can't do anything but sleep...at work i don't get jack shit done..and i don't know what the hell i do all day.... my entire body hurts.. emotionally i'm pretty fucked... suicide feels like a pretty viable option... The last time i was without thyroid medication i was so hopeless i made a serious suicide attempt.. [for the record..for those reading who believe suicide attempts are always attention seeking: i did NOT leave a note.. i did NOT call anyone.. i in fact layed on my garage floored in some *altered* state for 36 hours until a friend came looking for me and took me to the hospital...where i was in ICU for 6 days].
i'm sooo frustrated... i feel like i've done everything i could/should do.....
i'm going to call the pharmacuetical company tomorrow.
help?

Being on synthoid myself, I can only take the name brand synthriod, and I suggest you give it a chance because a thyroid storm is no fun sweetie had a few because I felt the medicine was not working. You are playing a dangerous game not taking the medicine I suggest you take the prescription from your doctor. If you do not you will find yourself unable to do anything, you are cold all the time, your voice will turn horse, you will not eat but rapidly gain weight!

Hi kalista,
Had no thyriod myself for 9 yrs due to Caner. Over here i get thyroxine only, which dosn`t work for me.
There was a period i had to stop taking it for a month, before gooing in for the radioactive pill.

In that time i felt much better physically, on coming out after the radio active treatment, was back on the thyroxine.
And back too feeling crappy with all the side effects, so stopped taking the thyroxine, felt a lot better and back to work etc.

When my 6 monthly visit to the specialist and thyroglobulin/iodine levels blood test came round, was told very angrily that i would have been dead before another 6 months passed, should i continued "Not" taking the meds.

So i have to take the thyroxine and live with the side effects, never been given the oppertunity to try T3 or any other replacement meds unfortunatly. just messing with doses. wich does little good.

Seems the book says i need XXX amount to keep my Iodine levels at the said amount per milli litre of blood, regardless of the fact we can all function on different metabolism levels.

From my experiances id`e have to say you ( need ) some replacement meds, and blood levels monitored monthly or 3 monthly etc if taking something you havn`t been on before and given the correct dose.

Have to say change your doctor Go too a hostpital ASAFP.
You need replacement therapy and monitoring, shame your over the pond i would sllip you 100 ml of my daily meds until you got sorted..

Nightrider....i'm not on anything like that...Previously i was on armour thyroid and levothyroxine.... i'm trying to be on nature thyroid and levothyroxine....

tresa.... i know... the problem is synthroid is a synthetic and when i'm on synthetic's only my T 3 and T4 levels become so wacked that it's similar to now when i'm on nothing.......i don't know if i put it in my opening op or not...but the first time.....after they took my thyroid out.....i gained about 200 pounds....No one apparently had thought to place me on any medication

Oh man and i thought the states would help me better re: meds etc.

You should have been told before the complete thyroidectomy that youd need to take replacement meds for the rest of your lif,
and the process started whilst recovering in hostpital.
I research at the time of mine and was told by a nurse friend over there they do monthly checks until the levels are correct. was 6 monthly for me here.

I still feel like shit most of the time,, but have to live with it, be interesting to see if anyone comes up with anything that improves the varied side effects.

Just wanted to update you all.....
So yesterday i called Walgreens to make sure my medication is going to be in after 2:30...Because after almost 3 weeks of jacking me around about this they've promised me it's going to be in...They wouldn't keep doing this to me right? So, i call...And..............yep.......you guessed it................ so after i'm done coming unglued at my desk because after pushing them for more information they not only tell me they are not going to get it in today they may never get it in and then they get rude with me.......uhm..okay... i spend the next hour calling every pharmacy in my area....i finally locate one who says they can get it in no problem...i'm ecstatic as hell...The downside? Not until Monday...ugh...But, i figure..Truth be told i've waited this long...What's a few more days.... So i give them the conversion they say if they have any problems they'll call me back blah blah blah..(this is at about 11am)....Come home...It's about 5:45pm. He and i are talking about it. He asks if i confirmed with them that they were able to place the order...i tel Him no...i call them and explain to them who i am...why i'm calling....First they try and tell me i gave them the wrong pharmacy phone #... i told them i did not give them the phone #, in fact i had offered to look it up for them but they had said they had it....Then they said when they called the pharmacy they said i didn't have a prescription there... i said, "omg!! What do you mean? They are still calling me telling me how my prescription is not going to be ready in time."...Once again (i've done this repeatedly at Walgreen's) i asked to speak with a supervisor) this person at cvs was actually worse.... He basically acted like it was my fault when they were unable to get it from the distributor....uhm...okay...jack ass....
So, now i'm trying to get it from drugs.com.....i've agreed to pay $20 for overnight shipping { although anticipated arrival date is currently Wednesday}and frankly i don't care if i had to pay 80 it would be worth it...fuck me dead...seriously!!!???
i do not think people understand everything i am doing to try and hold on here.

Kali...should this ever occur again, call a pharmacy located in a hospital. They fill rx's for patients all the time and have more drugs than the average corner pharmacy. And yes...they do fill rx's for non-patients as well

Call the manufacturer and ask where in your area is a pharmacy that carries this.

This morning i took a long shot and decided to contact this podunk town apothecary pharmacy shop about 25 minutes from here................

Not only did they have some natural thyroid medication..........................................................

They had some of the original thyroid medication i was on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO FREAKING WWWHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

AND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY Have some more that's a different dosage so i'm going to get my doctor to call that one in for me as well... and they said by the time i've gone through all of that then they should have the new natural stuff in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes the little "mom & pop" pharmacies come through. The chain stores are all about volume, but the little privately-owned ones need the business, so they try harder. I'm glad you found some!
