We're well into the hurricane season now and have had 3 or 4 named storms, none of which have made any significant impact on the United States or even most of the Caribbean countries yet. Those hurricanes better start forming soon if this is going to come true.

On a related note, this is by far the coldest summer I have ever experienced. Global warming has taken a serious break, and I love it. Temperatures in the mid-80's and rarely breaking above the low-90's, it's great.

It is something Bill Gates is working on actually.  More updated links can be found for those inclined but here is one:
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Bill-Gates-Weather-Hurricane-Patent,8270.html

I saw these links on tv one day.  Sounds plausible, but I don't know.  For one, he'd have to have his little barges set up all over the atlantic and gulf waters (more specifically off the coast of Africa, taking care of only one source of hurricanes forming).  There are actually three factors involved in the making of a hurricane.  Water temperature, air temperature and humidity, and wind.  And we don't even know how churning the waters of the atlantic is going to disturb the marine life in those waters, disturbing the balance of nature  (like that butterfly flapping its wings in Japan lol)

While you mention God...or the designer to have something to do with 'making hurricanes'.  It's actually got to do with climates, more specifically hot air, colliding with humid air.  http://kids.earth.nasa.gov/archive/hurricane/creation.html  (a link to the birth of a hurricane).  Hurricanes can be scientifically explained, so I'm not sure how that fits into your kink about religion.

But, more power to Bill Gates.  If he wants to spend his money trying, why not, right?  If he does manage to deter hurricanes successfully, microsoft is probably going to be omni nothing, compared to his new 'money making, long-time patented baby'.

I actually have a list of well over 600 references(multiple times the words of that Jesus fellow) to sexism, rape, incest, and torture to support this fetish - ah umm kink.  I learned a lot of what I know about S&M and how to treat lippy women from the ancient concept of what is now a christian tradition.

Of course, down here in Helltown, it's been oppressively hot -- we've had more 100-degree days this year than we've had in a century. They haven't been "peak" temperatures, but it's been consistently VERY VERY hot all summer -- we had a 27 day heatwave of temperatures at 99 or above in JUNE... while temps where my dad lives in upstate NY couldn't get into the 60's consistently.

It has been equally oppressive here in the central Florida peninsula as well. I lost count of the number of days in a row where the heat index was above 105 F on my desert hillside, but when I stopped counting it was a streak of 50 days. That was six weeks ago. (Just now checked... heat index is 104 F under heavily overcast, stormy conditions).

The hurricane season's not yet over with and I'm not taking any chances. 1992 started off as a slow season and it only took one storm in late August to become one of the largest, most costly natural disasters in the history of this country... Hurrican Andrew.

I think it was my fault, sorry.

DavanKael -> RE: Rising ocean temperatures, El Nino, hurricanes (8/25/2009 8:14:37 PM)

This Summer has been a little more mild than usual, knock-on-wood.
Imo, and granted that I am not a scientist, global warming makes sense in light of us coming out of an ice age.
Hurricanes are an interesting thing.  My ex- and I lived in Coastal Carolina for a couple of years.  I was home when  a hurricane came ashire in our town.  I thought the back door may blow in, lost power for less than 12 hours, chilled in the house with candles, and waited it out.  People who are accustomed to hurricanes tend not to freak out unless it appears that it's going to be a big one...then, it's time to go!

Speaking of coastal Carolina's and hurricanes....they say one may be forming and heading your way.

If so, good luck.

Muirren -> RE: Rising ocean temperatures, El Nino, hurricanes (8/26/2009 6:43:45 AM)

Gee, thanks! I live near the coast in VA. That means we'll get it too!

Sorry Muirren.  Here is a hurricane tracker link on that storm (Tropical Storm Danny)

I guess that the global warming alarmists were wrong once again. Where were all of the hurricanes caused by global warming ? I think the season is once again over and once again very quiet.

I hope this means we will have a warmer than usual winter this year in Wisconsin, especially since we have had 2 extemrely cold and snowy winters the last 2 years. Go El Nino...

It should be, yep. And cooler in the Southeast. Here ya go:

Only if you're so parochial to believe that the only storms that matter are those that hit the US. The folks who used to live in the Phillipines and SE Asia would probably differ with your claim.
