We're well into the hurricane season now and have had 3 or 4 named storms, none of which have made any significant impact on the United States or even most of the Caribbean countries yet. Those hurricanes better start forming soon if this is going to come true. On a related note, this is by far the coldest summer I have ever experienced. Global warming has taken a serious break, and I love it. Temperatures in the mid-80's and rarely breaking above the low-90's, it's great.

Of course, down here in Helltown, it's been oppressively hot -- we've had more 100-degree days this year than we've had in a century. They haven't been "peak" temperatures, but it's been consistently VERY VERY hot all summer -- we had a 27 day heatwave of temperatures at 99 or above in JUNE... while temps where my dad lives in upstate NY couldn't get into the 60's consistently. DC

It has been equally oppressive here in the central Florida peninsula as well. I lost count of the number of days in a row where the heat index was above 105 F on my desert hillside, but when I stopped counting it was a streak of 50 days. That was six weeks ago. (Just now checked... heat index is 104 F under heavily overcast, stormy conditions). The hurricane season's not yet over with and I'm not taking any chances. 1992 started off as a slow season and it only took one storm in late August to become one of the largest, most costly natural disasters in the history of this country... This Summer has been a little more mild than usual, knock-on-wood. Imo, and granted that I am not a scientist, global warming makes sense in light of us coming out of an ice age. Hurricanes are an interesting thing. My ex- and I lived in Coastal Carolina for a couple of years. I was home when a hurricane came ashire in our town. I thought the back door may blow in, lost power for less than 12 hours, chilled in the house with candles, and waited it out. People who are accustomed to hurricanes tend not to freak out unless it appears that it's going to be a big one...then, it's time to go! Davan

I guess that the global warming alarmists were wrong once again. Where were all of the hurricanes caused by global warming ? I think the season is once again over and once again very quiet.

The folks who used to live in the Phillipines and SE Asia would probably differ with your claim.
