The partisan politics are on Ted Kennedy, he's the one who asked for the law to be changed again.

If he wanted to "die in peace" then he would STFU .

My problem with this is not so much objecting to what he is doing as the ugly tone of the objections.

Which started out with the OP referring to him as an ass.

You are often up on your soapbox decrying the hatred exhibited by liberals.

How does this fit in with your holier-than-thou pronouncements?

Sanity -> RE: Ted Kennedy (8/22/2009 8:16:02 AM)

He is an ass. The fact that he's dying makes him a dying ass.

Keep that in mind, because I'll be throwing it right back at you the next inevitable time that you start whining about how hateful liberals are.

Sanity -> RE: Ted Kennedy (8/22/2009 8:38:52 AM)

And if I were trying to defend a dying scumbag from the right who was making a play to have special partisan election laws passed in his home state AGAIN, I would say you had every right.

Ted is do as I say not as I do  limosine liberal. A few years ago he put the brakes on plans to build a wind farm in the Atlantic Ocean. He didn't want to see them from his familys Cape Cod mansion. It's perfectly alright to build them where everyone else can see them, but not the Kennedys.

And I've even heard he doesn't brush and floss after every meal as 4 of 5 dentists recommend.

Why don't you address the subject, RML, instead of attacking or mocking the discussion and discussors?  Have you googled up enough about "politics" (from your earlier "answer") to know that what is being discussed here goes well beyond that pussy reply?

This isn't a discussion.

This is a an attack thread on a dying old man who is is sadly, and desperately trying to preserve his legacy.

But there's absolutely nothing pussy about that, is there?

TheHeretic -> RE: Ted Kennedy (8/22/2009 8:52:24 AM)

Right.  Denial.  River in Egypt, isn't it?

Arpig -> RE: Ted Kennedy (8/22/2009 9:10:56 AM)

OK rml,we get it. You like the guy, fair enough. Now what do you think of his attempt to get the succession laws changed in Mass in order to maintain the Democratic filibuster-proof majority? How does the fact that he was the principle player in having the present law set up in order to prevent the then Governor (Republican) from appointing a Republican not have an effect on how you see what he's doing?

Sanity -> RE: Ted Kennedy (8/22/2009 9:12:38 AM)

Try again. The thread is about Ted Kennedy's  dying request  [:(]  for what even Democrats are calling an outrageous attempt to put the fix in for his Senate seat.

Even on his deathbed he's a scumbag. He's not a victim and you're not a victim, the only victims here are the people of Massachusetts who are having to deal with this blatant corruption, try and get over it.

No Arpig, you don't get it, at all.

I don't have strong feelings for or against the man.

What I've found fascinating here is the people who complain how liberals hated Bush for no reason and viciously attacked Palin are the same people jumping on the "I hate Teddy" bandwagon with no compassion for the man's illness.

Tell me, how many posts have you seen in this thread actually discussing the issue puported to be the topic of the thread.

The vast majority of the posters, including the OP, have used it as an excuse to call him an ass, a scumbag, a fraud, and a murderer, among other things.

Then may I suggest you try to discuss the topic and refrain from personal attacks on him?

Oh, I get it. You're making a joke!

After the way Bush and Palin have been treated, and the things that were said about Reagan in his final years, and then immediately after his death - you believe Ted Kennedy should be honored as a war hero by everyone, for all his lifetime achievements....

[sm=biggrin.gif]

Good one!

No, I believe if you want to complain about those things you find offensive and then you do the same then your complaints ring hollow.

The vast majority of the posters,

By my count here, RML, better than 25% of the posts on this thread are from you, making accusations in the overwhelming majority of them.

Perhaps the thread discussion would move towards the actual topic of heinous partisan hypocrisy if you weren't so determined to hijack?

Let's see, the OP started out by defining the topic of the thread as an ass.

But I'm the one preventing a discussion of the topic?

So tell me, is the topic Kennedy's partisanship or is it that Kennedy is an ass?

TheHeretic -> RE: Ted Kennedy (8/22/2009 10:09:59 AM)

That partisanship can turn the most idealistic into asses.

Sanity -> RE: Ted Kennedy (8/22/2009 10:19:02 AM)

I don't follow. Why don't you illustrate this more clearly for me. Are you referring only to the MSNBC thread, where I suggested that it was hateful for their "news" program there to doctor video of a black guy carrying an assault rifle so the audience couldn't tell he was black, and then use it as an example which suggests that white racists are threatening Obama?

Or what specifics do you have in mind, if anything - because I think you're just making this up.

I have to wonder why you and so many here are upset when the voters in his home state do not seem to be.

Keep in mind also that this is a Rasmussen poll.

You know, Rasmussen, Fox in disguise.

Poll: Majority ok with Kennedy request - The Scorecard - POLITICO.com

Rasmussen, less than 48 hours after the Boston Globe broke the story, is out with a poll on Sen. Ted Kennedy’s request to change the Massachusetts succession law to enable Democratic Gov. Deval Patrick to appoint an interim senator in the event of a vacancy — a move that would ensure Massachusetts has two Democratic votes for President Obama’s health care reform.

The automated poll, conducted Aug. 20, surveyed 500 likely Massachusetts voters.

Q: Under Massachusetts law a special election is held to fill an open Senate seat. While waiting for a special election should the governor appoint an interim senator?

52% Yes
40% No
7% Not sure

rightwinghippie -> RE: Ted Kennedy (8/22/2009 10:32:57 AM)

The complaints seem even more hollow when you engage in the activites first. RML, haven't we heard you (certainly many lefties on here many times) bring up Rush's Health? We never heard commentarry hoping Cheny would not wake from surgery.

What Kenedy is attempting to do now is a disgusting corruption of the concept of the Rule of Law. And he deserves to be called on it.
