As many of you may know, I am a HUGE Steve Earle fan. Anyway, after listening to his latest album of Townes van Zandt covers I started tracking down some of Townes' stuff. Its really pretty good listening. Anybody else out there like him? Anybody got a suggestion as to what songs or albums I should track down?

My 2 favorite Townes Van Zandt albums are "High, Low and In Between" and "A Gentle Evening With Townes Van Zandt".

Amazing singer/song writer.

I absolutely love TVZ. He's truly one of the greatest songwriters ever. Since his stuff is new to you, I would suggest you start off with some of the greatest hits stuff. That'll open you up to some of his better known stuff and then you can proceed from there. "Pancho & Lefty," "If I Needed You," "Waitin' Around To Die," "No Place To Fall," "Snake Mountain Blues," "Tecumsah Valley," and "Mr. Gold and Mr. Mud".........the list goes on and on of his better known stuff and my personal faves.

I would also suggest you watch a couple documentaries: "Be Here To Love Me" and "Heartworn Highways." You'll see an intimate portrait of TVZ and see what a cool guy he was. "To Live Is To Fly" is his biography and well worth a read as well. Basically, if it has to do with TVZ, it's cool and it's beautiful. I'm excited for your discovery of him!
