After a certain arousal point, for me pain is just another sensation. It is no longer felt as pain.

kiwisub12 -> RE: What is exciting about pain (8/31/2009 5:45:38 PM)

I would have been more impressed if there had actually been infliction of pain!

My Sir has been caning me regularly for going on 4 years now - and i get marks starting with the first stroke.      Can you say faked?

The pain for me is a vehicle for the love and sexuality that my Sir feels for me. The fact that it takes  me to subspace is a (really) nice benefit!     And yes, i cringe too when i see my Sir scene others - i find it easier to be beaten than to watch.

softness -> RE: What is exciting about pain (8/31/2009 6:13:45 PM)

It very much depends where pain takes you. I know masochists who get off on the pain itself, pain makes them wet/hard. There are a few pain sensations that do the same for me - a really heavy flogging for instance or a percussion caning. Those painful sensations allow me to fly and all the engery flowing through me becomes clean and bright for being washed over with the pain. So I can experience pain and find it nommy ...
Generally for me however pain is an unfortunate by product (or necessary evil) of the stuff that gets me really hot. For example I love to be slapped around not because of the pain of the slaps but because of the humiliation of the blows, of the fact that it is such a demeaning, dismissive and patronising thing to do to someone. That really rings my bells.
Another thing that pain does is "empty the bucket". It takes me to the place where I cannot master myself any longer. When I can no longer control myself because pain wielded and delivered by someone else has overwhelmed me. In that place all the walls come down and I let go. It is a chance for my base, animal and instinctual self to see the light of day. Though I am a submissive, I am also a control freak and there are things I cannot let go of until those walls come down. Once that bucket is emptied - all that pent up whatever flowing out of me - then I can find some peace. I have never experienced anything else that has given me that true peace right down to my core.

I don't get it? Why would anyone subject themselves to the pain?

I’m not at all what I’d call a masochist, but I want to increase my pain tolerance.  Why?  Because I want to do it for Sir, to make Him happy as another way of submitting to Him and, in the process, I also will enjoy that further submission.  Because in my fantasies it really turns me on & I'd like to enjoy it in "real life."  Because I’ve heard there is an endorphin rush associated with it & I would like to experience that as well.  Because I love to be flogged but right now I’m bit of a weenie at it…..but hopefully not forever.  [:D]

Missokyst -> RE: What is exciting about pain (8/31/2009 8:45:22 PM)

The actors were not bad looking the play was doable. The caning did not seem excessive enough to cause marks on a seasoned body.  I don't see the issue or why someone might cringe in watching it.  I find I enjoy the sounds, the reverberation of the cane, the stroke, the whimper.  That part is a turn on for me.  Marks are just reminders.  Pain is simply sensation.  It is the connection between the people that is more important to me.

Pain is experienced differently by each person....
I suggest you find out for yourself if its excites you....you might be surprised....
if you experience...you can tell what effect it has on you....
pain can be inflicted in different gradations....it doesn't have to be extreme to get the desired effect...
I suggest you go and experiment[;)]...and find out for yourself.....
When I started BDSM I wasn't a fan of pain myself....now I even can get an orgasm by it....

this is true,

and only to add, when there is pain and then soft touches after feels so much better to me then if it was just gentle or just pain. until the said above then its just another feeling that still feels good.

To the op....in my brain the thoughts of receiving pain are sensual and erotic to me until the actual physical act begins and then my brain screams "Fuck, this hurts!" My brain fights it and yet my body becomes extremely aroused. It's a constant conflict for me. Before the pain starts I fantasize about it, I hate it when it's occurring, and then when it's over I go right back to that fantasy mode.

You summed up my feelings about pain exactly.

Cuffkinks -> RE: What is exiting about pain (9/1/2009 4:25:38 AM)

As for the video...It wasn't horrible. I've seen worse. I did like the sub, though I definitely think it was all acting. I could have done without the (lack of) acting by the Dom/me characters.
As for pain itself...There is a sadistic side of me that likes to play there, but for me it's always been more about my subs reactions rather than my actions. I do enjoy inflicting pain, but I enjoy it because I'm controlling her reactions by what I do to her. If I want to hear her moan and whimper, I know what to do to cause that. If I want to hear her cry, or scream...I know what to do. That's what gets me off. Being in control and getting from her the reactions that I want. To me that's incredibly exciting.

petitbateau -> RE: What is exiting about pain (9/1/2009 5:35:22 AM)

Pain makes me wet and hard, pain makes me willing for more, pain makes me open, pain breaks me and build me back.

Pain leads me to a place where I experience something I can't experience anywhere. It's a mixture of sensations and trust and feeling and of course the final rush ahah
It's hot and keep me focues, it's hard and makes me feel alive.
It's a connection, a deep one.. from my toes to my head I'm a wave of sensations, an instrument to play with
and I hope I make a good music too eheh

If you aren't a masochist, we can't talk you into being one. [;)] How do you describe a rainbow to someone who was born blind?

That's an interesting thought - I wonder if you could teach or learn masochism? Perhaps combine erotic stimulation with simultaneous pain in another area repeated enough would get a Pavlovian response?

Or perhaps it'd be more a case of awakening the masochism inside where it is dormant - I always think we can learn to do more with our bodies given time and patience

It feels good. I am a total pain slut, and absolutely love that done to me. On good nights, after that's been done to me, I dream about it being done to me. There's really no other way for me to explain it because it's truly that simple. Sexual pain feels amazing.

Trust me, you can, and you've also grasped the method.

To the thread starter: sheesh, what's NOT exciting about pain?
