krikket -> Revenge! (8/26/2009 6:13:40 PM)

The following was shown on our local tv news tonight and is in the Washington Post.l  Humiliation anyone?
  • A pissed off wife made her cheating husband stand at the corner of Leesburg Pike and International Drive in Tysons Corner this morning while wearing a sign that read, "I CHEATED. THIS IS MY PUNISHMENT.  Clicking on "wearing a sign" takes you to the whole article, complete with video.

    What man, especially one who cheats, would do this unless he enjoyed the idea of humiliation just as much as his wife?

    That or she threatened to walk away with every single penny he has and the children unless he did it and if that's true the courts will have a field day on the day of divorce!

    i thought it was a hoot..and kinda wish i'd thought of it 11 years ago, except i think our friends and family would have been even more embarrassed..lol.

    I’m not laughing. For some reason I think such a response would wind me up on the corner with him, holding my own sign.

    Personally, I think it's excellent.  So often we have threads around here about punishment.  I think this absolutely fits the bill.

    I agree it was a clever idea; just think it is best for me not to laugh. ; )

    Update:  Tonight's news spot said that his wife called him after 2 hours and said he could go home.  Bet he moved quicker than he ever has before..lol

    Good, but not original, I really think I have seen this done before.

    LillyoftheVally -> RE: Revenge! (8/27/2009 4:31:00 AM)

    I think its a bloody fab idea. Good for her.

    slaveluci -> RE: Revenge! (8/27/2009 7:51:02 AM)

    I think it was the perfect thing to do....if she was hoping to totally destroy what was left of their relationship after what he'd already done.

    He violates her trust by cheating so she gets her "getback" by demanding that he be publicly humiliated. Great relationship skills and much respect for each other on both sides here......not.

    Hey, one stupid and wrong move deserves another, I say. What he didn't kill by cheating, she did by insisting on airing their dirty laundry and humiliating him in the process. Way to build a solid marriage idiots[8|]

    I am thinking the solidity was not exactly an issue at that point.

    GreedyTop -> RE: Revenge! (8/27/2009 8:03:27 AM)

    didnt some mother do this to her kid when he got caught cheating on a test in school or something?

    RavenMuse -> RE: Revenge! (8/27/2009 8:05:43 AM)

    Personaly I think it is akin to trying to close the stable door after the horse has already bolted. Without trust there is no healthy relationship, you can't trust a cheat, full stop. People like him need kicking to the kirb as she will NEVER be able to trust the lowlife again!

    I don't know why but I am kind of picturing another Dr. Phil Show moment here....[8|]

    Sunnyfey -> RE: Revenge! (8/27/2009 9:04:00 PM)

    I'm wondering why I didn't hear about this this morning, when I'm only a few miles away from there.......

    WyldHrt -> RE: Revenge! (8/27/2009 9:27:24 PM)

    This technique is, or at least was, used on the USMC base where I used to work. I'd go to the McDonalds on the main drag for lunch and see some poor PFC (complete with Sgt glowering at him/her) standing on the side of the road, holding a big sign that read, "I got caught speeding. Don't be an asshole like me" or some such. It seemed to be fairly effective, as I never saw the same one twice. Of course, the fact that all of said speeder's friends usually spent the morning/ afternoon driving by, honking, and generally laughing their asses off probably helped. [8D]
