It will come to a vote. It has no choice but to come to a vote. I personally think they were nuts to try any kind of bi partisan plan. I do hope they vote it in, despite the opposition.

I asked the question, when will the dems bring this to a vote. I also answered it. They will not.

You’re right they don’t need a single Republican to get the bill through. And quite frankly if they don’t find the balls to pass a bill with a single-payer option they are going to be skewered by the voters in the next election. People want a bill with the single-payer option and the Democrats better deliver or they are going to be losing a lot of seats in the House in the next election.

In death Ted Kennedy still affecting the healthcare debate by demanding the single-payer option.in the letter written by the dying senator to the Pope. Ted Kennedy would not sell out the public option!!!

Again I ask. Why won't the democrats just pass this bill ( when they return )? They have the votes. If they like it, vote on it. They do not need a single republican to get this through.

No they don't, but if the bill doesn't go through, they will have no problems blaming the republicans for it.

your right. and some have actually baited the republican party to do just that. its been suggested that they create a filibuster and "block" the vote, thereby allowing the DNC to point fingers and blame.... how diabolicial!!!

And just how is the republican party going to force democrats to blame them if the bill doesn't go through? The democrats have the majority, so what is the problem? All the democrats agree with each other don't they?

Of course not, but a lot of posters on CM seem to think they do.

So, how is the republican party going to force democrats to blame them if the bill doesn't go through?

The reason they focus on the older citizens and their medicare is because the baby boomers are easy to scare and have a huge population and more pull with their elected officials, and a re more likely to write them. Thus giving the impression to elected officials of both sides of Senate and Congress that the people don't want it, even though most of us sit quietly on our hands and do. At least those that need it.

And it is fairly common on this site for people to fight and insult and deny when they have been proven wrong, or even simply shown a different way of looking. Many here believe they are all knowing and smarter than everyone else and need to prove it constantly until you want to throw up on them.

The problem is US Democrats are not telling the truth and it causes the confusion and protests. They think the US population is too stupid and it can not handle the truth. "Obamacare" is in essence extension of welfare program  providing health care to people who can not afford quality care. At the same time "Obamacare" would increase health-care industry profits as well. This is all people need to know to be pro or contra. Many would agree with higher taxes for better public health. Single-payer system would be a real reform.

Well, Brain, I guess the Democratic, filibuster proof, majority does not have any, and the President seems to be doing a nice crinoline enhanced curtsy himself.

President taking public option off the table.

quote:

And although House leaders have said their members will demand the inclusion of a public insurance option, Obama has no plans to insist on it himself, the officials said.

Obama’s willingness to forgo the public option is sure to anger his party’s liberal base.

A perfect illustration of who is holding up the passage of the purported "heath-care" Bill. Why isn't it passed under the same conditions? Why, if it's so serves its purported intent wasn't it passed, under this same majority, and with the now "sainted" Ted able to vote for it?

Somebody want to make me laugh and reference bipartisan "inclusion"?

"Truth" sometimes is a moving target tazzy, but in this case, the truth is that this Bill will not accomplish its goal; not in its original form and surely not whatever form it will evolve into after Congress gets back from their vacation and their town hall 'pep rallies'.

The Bill was a bureaucratic boondoggle, as the 1000 page length would indicate. It was full of special interest payback and economic land minds. Worst, instead of rising the quality of care in the US, it guaranteed to make it worse.

A solution of employer mandated coverage for all employees, full and part time, would be step one. Inclusion of all uninsured under Medicare would be step two. Quality would be insured by eliminating the current Federal, State, and Local government "insider" insurance and replacing it with the same Medicare, or 'safety net' coverage. So simple you would think even Congress could do it, however we'd be better off if Geico 'cave-men' gave it a try.

Now, Merc... even that i would agree too. As i have said all along, i dont care whose idea, i dont care how... as long as people are able to have health care.
