I got a wayward email from a dominant man, and in his email he listed 'domestication' as something he was looking to do to a slave. I told him I wasn't interested at all, but asked what domestication is, and he told me 'I'll train her to clean and cook.' When I think of domestication, I think of livestock or the breeding of wolves into dogs. I don't think of cleaning a house or cooking. Does a person looking to 'domesticate' another person think they're wild and need to be tamed or something? Serious question, where the hell did that term come from.

The term "Domestic" is used in reference to a house maid, cleaning lady (Char Lady) or simply a servant whose tasks include house cleaning and doing Domestic chores. there are those of us and especially those in both the Victorian and Gorean Lifestyles tend to look firstly for a "service" slave. I.e. one who does service including serving food, and refreshments as well as keeps the cottage, house or manor clean.

domestication comes from the idea of domestic wife...one who stays at home, cooks, cleans, etc...which imo is kinda funny to have to train a slave to do those things. I learned those things in grade school along with manners and etiquette. No one ever had to take home-economics?

It means he is really, really picky and he is gunna bitch if one thing is out of place... most the time. Because generally speaking, most adults know how to cook and clean. We may want to teach them more specifically one thing or another, but when I hear the word used by a dominant... I tend to believe they are pretty anal about things. It's like they assume you don't know how to do these things and they are correct I guess... you don't know how they want it done and how much trouble you are in if you aren't domesticated as quickly or do as well as they expect. Just my opinion...

Those courses are not very common in school now days, I don't believe. I got to call my UM and see if her school offers home economics. But she is at band practice right now and I can't reach her... I remember taking home ec when I was in high school and that was over 20 years ago.

There's this phrase called "domestic discipline" that I sometimes see bandied about. I've seen it used most often with malesub/femdom couples. Perhaps it is the guys' version of 50s housewife?

My mother taught me how to cook and clean and I've even done it for a living. Someone assuming he can teach me what I already know is kind of weird, but my superiority complex over some things probably means being a dominant is right where I need to me [:D]

Y'see for me there is more than just "Doing house work and cooking". There is a format for maintaining the house the way I expect it to be where everything is put away in a tidy, orderly fashion so anyone can locate every item especially the servant who may be expected to lay her hands on numerous items at a moment's notice. Then there is the way food and refreshments should be prepared and served. Nothing less than this may be acceptable. I have specific ways I like my coffee or tea and I expect a perfectly boiled egg soft and yet with no uncooked white as well as fresh toast and butter both hot and not just warm. There is a specific order in the way I like my shaving gear laid out and hot water read for me when I arise. baths need to be at the correct temperature and to a specified height. Service of food and drinks may be done in the English Tradition from either a Maid or Butler ior it may be desired more in line with the fancy Gorean style serves which I delight in having. protocols need be perfected too. So There can be much, much more than what is taught in Home Economics. I agree that this is not for everyone who expects a sub/slave to be both a play mate and servant but this but one example of what can be involved in Domestic Service.

So the answer is.... He made the word up

Just my opinion... Sounds like an ex-boyfriend of Mine. He threatened to kill My cats if I didn't comply. I did not comply, and called the police to have him removed. This was years ago, and the beauty part is, I think he's dead now. Fucking miserable asshole. Anyways.. Cooking and cleaning are life skills that should not be pertinent to gender or place. Just sayin'.

Similar here, except for me it was auto shop and playing with cars and welding torches. I'm honestly not even sure we had a traditional home econ with cooking/sewing like my mom talks about. Cooking wise, I learned that at home even though I don't pretend to be much of a chef.

I was cutting class to go work... but I learned at home trying to help my mom raise my siblings and then moving out young and taking on a ready made family. I worked as a domestic in new single father homes who had wives that left. I taught them how to parent, cook, whatever was needed by getting them all sorted out and then I would move to the next house. I always did side jobs cleaning houses and worked on a couple multimillion dollar estates. I know those picky men! I was told by the wife of one that I was the first to pass her husbands many test's and I had the job for as long as I wanted it. But I have lived with people, knew them, worked for them... that just had to have things done their way and that's okay until it is your job for life. At some point you want to strangle them because you walk on ice way too thin because they are simply anal about things. I love a clean home and I came from a family where the dad was one hairy man... omg... a Robert Conrad, but darker and bigger. My mom knew how to pick'em, but anyway, if you left one hair anywhere in his bathroom... you heard about it. I remember it taking almost two hours to do a small bathroom and many cloths because you couldn't leave a hair anywhere. No thanks... I would rather teach a mild slob to pick up after himself than to deal with a man behind me bitchin. lol
