True education is the exact opposite of putting a lid on things, kitten.

Argh. You know what I meant: I wasn't arguing banning, or censorship. I was arguing for the Bible in moderation.

The frikkin Bible is quasi omnipresent, everywhere one turns, it's frikkin there. The frikkin students probably all have dozens of copies of the frikkin book in their frikkin homes.

I'm just arguing in favour of frikkin replacing the frikkin thing with a few other choice pieces of literature (Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, perhaps some Stendhal?). Frikkin Bible... everybody knows of it. There are other frikkin books out there, ya know :-) .

That's because it isn't saying anything, but shhh... that's a secret.

How can a school use the Bible "as a primary source of teaching material"? It's terrifying that they even thought of it in the first place. We're in the XXIst Century! For crying out loud...

Literature, history, ethics, humanities, art. . . I can think of several uses.

I keep wondering if they meant "primary source" as in primary and secondary sources for reference material.

Agreed is it a religious school trying to mask itself as a secular one? or what?

You musty be suffering from some kind of affliction because I don't see a Bible everywhere I turn.

Or perhaps you live in a Cathedral.

At several different points they state that
quote:

"modern" sciences

is part of the curriculum.

That sort of odd usage raises a red flag for me. I also note that the very brief discussion of biology curriculum does not discuss or imply that evolutionary theory will be taught.

However the claim to be using the Hillsdale curriculum which seems to be a fairly rigorous traditional liberal arts program.

However the ADF's involvement is another red flag as they are only interested in advancing fundamentalists.

Googling about on the matter finds a lot of fairly vague stories from the local press.

What is the glitch, Kitten?  For starters, this is a charter school, meaning their curriculum is not about unearned self-esteem, and politically correct theory.  Three r's here; reading, (w)riting and (a)rithmetic.  Reading is self-explanatory, and, depending on translation, it isn't an awful model for writing.

Math?  The possibilities are endless.  "Zacharius must stone an adulteress.  If it takes 200 rocks to stone her to death, and his wheelbarrow will hold 65 rocks, how many trips to the quarry must he make?"

I am not a religious person by any definition but it sounds to me like the Idaho Constitution needs some editing. Talk about zealots.

I disagree entirely. (BTW, what's constitutional, is not illegal) This kind of 'learning' is left to the liberal arts in college years well after K-9, NOT as they say...during the young formative years.
