Ditto with Welcome Back Kotter.  I gave it a big build up and sat my sons down to watch an old rerun with me when they were jr hi ages.  I was expecting to have a big yuk-it-up bonding time with them over this "hilarious" show.....and I couldn't believe how bad it really was, lol.

Then there was the original Baywatch.....[8|]

IrishMist -> RE: Way back when....what TV shows.................. (9/3/2009 4:20:36 PM)

Doctor Who first appeared on BBC television at 5:15 p.m. on the 23rd of  November 1963.

There have been a total of 17 Doctors.

So what do you mean my Original?

I only ask because I like to know which Doctor people consider THE Doctor.

Steel (Pretty Die Hard Fan)

Nothing, first there never was a show I was so addicted to I had to watch, and I rarely watched a lot of tv back then  since we were not allowed to for large periods of my life, from 13 to 18, so maybe it's the reason why.

Did you absolutely love & were so addicted to you planned your schedule around them but when you see them now, you cringe at the thought that you ever watched them?

LadyPact -> RE: Way back when....what TV shows.................. (9/20/2009 8:26:38 PM)

I'm glad you started this thread.  I really am.  I was looking for a way to bring this up and couldn't do it.

For Me, it was M.A.S.H.  I even quit the volleyball team as a kid because they moved the show to the same night as practice.  That was the last couple of seasons and I believe it was Monday nights.  Now, I can't stand to watch it when either of the males is deployed.  It's a sure sign that something isn't sitting right in My head when one of then is gone and I'm watching it.  Yesterday, I watched it for six hours straight.  Funny how things turn out, isn't it?

Along with that, it was Dallas.  I was hooked.  The Greatest American Hero had Me for it's short run, too.

Speaking of short runs, you couldn't pry Me away from the tv for Murder In Small Town X.   There was another show on Fox that was called Reunion that I loved.  It broke Me of watching ER.  I never did find out who killed Sam, but I still think she really killed herself.

Of course, South Park goes without saying!

I used to LOVE "Knot's Landing" & I bought the 1st Season DVD set and was watching it this week and couldn't BELIEVE I was addicted to that! Really, really BAD acting! Even when JR came to visit & wreak havoc, his voice set my teeth on edge!

***Which reminds me, I have to order Season Two for the death of Syd Fairgate***

DesFIP -> RE: Way back when....what TV shows.................. (9/21/2009 5:28:16 AM)

Dark Shadows, raced home from school to watch that.
Star Trek - the original.

When cable first came out I became an instant weather channel fan. I would watch it for an hour at a time. Liked to see the radar and try to outguess their meteorologists.

HatesParisHilton -> RE: Way back when....what TV shows.................. (9/21/2009 5:32:25 AM)

Ahhh yes, the sublime Johnathan Frid as Barnabas Collins!

I loved the paper mache and pressed-board walls that would move if the cast touched them accidentally!  LOL

also...

Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons (precursors to Thundrbirds)
Battle of the Planets (loved the Bird motifs)
Star Blazers

daintydimples -> RE: Way back when....what TV shows.................. (9/21/2009 5:43:38 AM)

I recently rented Rocky and Bullwinkle from Netflix. Remember Fractured Fairytales?
