Why not make a warm water filled anal douche part of foreplay?

That would take care of the chemical and time element at the same time.

Just trying to help....

Lots of good ideas here.

Enema dependence can shut down the peristalsis contraction of the muscles that aid in elimination.

That's what my nurse friend said when I asked her.  Flushing out the ole poop chute too much isn't a good idea.

How to say this delicately...  when DB wants to play 'round back, He just does it.  Sometimes He will ask if I think it's a good idea, sometimes He doesn't.  Fortunately, we haven't had any "oh dear gary, I'm going to die of mortification" moments, and if we did, He wouldn't care.  He's just not that concerned with aesthetics.  When I feel like being a little extra naughty "behind" the scenes, I use a Fleet enema before He arrives.  Since I'm more genteel than He is, I prefer a less barbaric way of saying, "Hey, my butt is ready for Ya."  So, I tell Him that I am "squeaky clean."  He knows what this means, and acts accordingly.  [8D]

Thank you everyone for the information.  I couldn't ask my doctor, cause she verbally "reamed me," telling me what I'm preparing for is perverted.  lmao

... Have you considered switching doctors? Or at the least told her that her opinion on your sex life is completely irrelevant and she needs to provide you with the medical facts pertinent to your questions, which does not include her personal views? If you haven't already, I would suggest arming yourself with a copy of "When Someone You Love is Kinky" and showing them the chapter designed to assist those providing medical care for kinky-folk.

Edited to add: Oh yeah... and everything they said. [;)]

I'd go with the Doctor switching not the Doctor education. While in theory a Doctor should be neutral to a persons preferences and only consider the health applications, they are people too with all the prejudice that comes with. If the Doctor is so unprofessional to not be able to overcome her feelings it's better to find someone that can.

BKSir -> RE: Are Daily Enemas Unhealthy? (9/26/2009 10:25:01 PM)

I couldn't agree more with Anakaris.  If there's anyone on earth that you should be able to talk to about anything, period, openly and honestly, and I mean ANYTHING, it should be your doctor.  The second you even think "I can't ask my doctor about this." is the same second you should be thinking "I need a new doctor."  Not 'want' a new doctor, but 'NEED' one.

Daddysredhead -> RE: Are Daily Enemas Unhealthy? (9/26/2009 10:58:34 PM)

True about the doctor thing.  I've gone to my ob/gyn for almost 21 years.  Last time I was there, I had a question that I was almost too mortified to ask, but thought, "what the hell?  he's seen my hoo-hah for years, and knows ever nook and cranny almost as well as DB."  So I said, "I have a question, and it's really embarrassing..."  He looked at me and said, "Nonsense, there is no such thing... ask away."  So I did, and he was very direct in his answer, no judgment at all.  Just my answer, which made me feel perfectly wonderful for asking and not being too shy to speak up.

(do you know how hard it is to start a question with "Is anal sex..." with a man who is old enough to be your dad?)

Just sayin'... get a new doctor.  [;)]

There is a reason I asked if the OP had considered switching. However, switching is not always a viable route. Depending on the size of the town, HMO restrictions and other health factors (this doctor may be the best for other needs the OP has) switching simply may be out of the question.

I personally believe it's better to educate when possible. This allows the patient to stay with the doctor they have chosen, or are stuck with, and allows for the doctor to better treat other patients with similiar needs.

DemonKia -> RE: Are Daily Enemas Unhealthy? (9/28/2009 3:17:07 PM)

Yeah, I wanna chime in with the idea that changing out docs is a nice theory but in the USofA it's not necessarily very practical . . . . . Lots of people in the US are stuck with very limited choices of health-care practitioners . . . . .

&, outside of BDSM contexts entirely, it's not terribly uncommon for patients who've done lots of research on their particular condition to educate their doc . . . . . .

I have indeed thought about changing doctors and think it's a very good idea but, since I'm on disability, it's kind of hard to find a doctor that will take Medicare.  They are few and far between since the reimbursement isn't the greatest for the docs.  I will hafta look long and hard (no pun intended, hahaha) for another doctor.  I'm very tired of having to screen everything I ask her & worry about her judgement.  Just because SHE wouldn't do the activity I, umm, asked her about it doesn't mean it's inherently pervy or evil.  haha

DemonKia -> RE: Are Daily Enemas Unhealthy? (9/28/2009 8:13:02 PM)

There's clearly a need for a how-to book about how to talk to (& educate, if necessary) one's health-care practitioners about alternative sexual practices . . . . . . lol . . . . 'When Your Patients Are Kinky, Queer, Or Otherwise Doing Stuff You Disapprove Of' . . . .

Frankly, in the US, the only people who really do have 'choice' in their medical providers are those who pay cash . . .. . . Probably a fairly limited subset . . .

Have you tried education? Getting her to read materials and flat out telling her you find her behavior unacceptable? Is she the head of office or is there another doctor who is more senior who might be able to help?

Well, ah, she is not the head of the office, no.  But she is the one who does the "women's health care" there.  I am now in the process of getting referrals from friends for more open-minded gyn's.  I am just sick and tired of closed-minded assholes.  She is an A.R.N.P. & the doctor that she works with I think would be more freaked out about it than she, so I will just take my women's health-care elsewhere.  I've been going there for 17 years and, from what I've heard, she's been opinionated like that almost forever, but I just never brought up questions like this until now.  Lucky me. If you don't mind doing such a thing, it might help others to write a formal letter stating that you are leaving their practice due to the discriminatory nature of this physican and that their inability to seperate their opinions from their medical practice could up injuring a patient in the future. While the particulars of your situation are sexual, those who fear ridicule from their physicans may not tell their doctors about supplements or other practices that could interact with meds or other treatments seriously.

Aanakaris -> RE: Are Daily Enemas Unhealthy? (10/5/2009 9:07:10 PM)

Just to point out that while education can help, recent research has shown that people with strong opinions actually become addicted to them. It's a literal chemical addiction in the brain to the rewards of confronting people with your opinion or expressing your opinion to others. (I'm talking about strong opinions here, not just casual ones). So changing a persons mind can be just as hard as getting them to break any other addiction. I think you're making the wise choice trying to find a new practitioner.

It's not so much a matter of changing opinions, in this case. It's a matter of reminding a physician that their personal opinions regarding their patient's lives have no place in their medical practice. My doctor can think whatever they like of my lifestyle as long as they keep their mouth shut about it while I am in there and don't break the confidentiality laws.
