We're doing better than you're willing to admit, you're whistling past the graveyard here. Hell - I'll bet that before today most people didn't know that the right knew how to protest. I personally saw a lot of jaws drop this morning as we came marching by in downtown Boise, because and our numbers here were fantastic.

Warmed up for what? This was it. The 9/12 guys and the teaparty groups made this the grand display of their political muscle and they got maybe 60k. A few years back Farrakhan got 750k in the same place and that wasn't enough to get the NoI taken seriously by anyone. The crowd doesn't even come close to the crowds that showed up for the anti abortion marches back in the 80's when I lived there.

hi every one nice to met you

mnottertail -> RE: Have Fun Teabagging Washington (9/12/2009 5:11:00 PM)

You wanna sign up for teabagging duty?

DomKen -> RE: Have Fun Teabagging Washington (9/12/2009 5:19:45 PM)

Doing better than I admit? The 60k number is the D.C. Fire Departments estimate. That compares quite unfavorably with such things as the numerous anti Iraq war protests which ranged up to 200k and were not the result of months long promoting by a major news network.

The fact is that these events were covered in the media, FNC made sure of that, but were dwarfed in size and scope by dozens of protests between Jan 20 2001 and Jan 19 2009.

Lucylastic -> RE: Have Fun Teabagging Washington (9/12/2009 5:28:11 PM)

Maybe the rest of them ended up in washington state,

The way you worded your thread title must have been a mistake on your part if you didn't intend to be so extremely offensive.

I agree with this guy it is really all about operation monkey shit:

i marched in Washington against the first Bush war (still have my "no blood for oil" pin) and what showed up today could olny be considered a signifant number of protesters by fauxnews.

servantforuse -> RE: Have Fun Teabagging Washington (9/12/2009 7:23:50 PM)

I don't think, Domken, that the democrats will see this as a small demonstration. I think they will see it as the excact opposite. We will soon see when it comes time for them to vote on this boondoggle health care plan. Cap and trade comes next. Then they all get shown the door.

Why would the democrats not see this as a small demonstration. It was a small demonstration. Compared to the crowds gathered by issues like reproductive rights, the war in Iraq, gay rights, black rights this was a  ripple in the pond. Without addressing the right or wrong of their position, why would the democrats view this demonstration as overly important?

servantforuse -> RE: Have Fun Teabagging Washington (9/12/2009 7:58:50 PM)

Maybe, just maybe, the dems see this demonstration as the tip of the iceburg. We will soon see just how effictive this march was. The rubber will soon hit the road when they say yea or nay.

rikigrl -> RE: Have Fun Teabagging Washington (9/13/2009 5:20:38 PM)

my county has a population of over 180,000 and 200 teabaggers showed up at the county courthouse...i am not impressed.

Leiren -> RE: Have Fun Teabagging Washington (9/13/2009 5:30:44 PM)

FR to Spinner of Tales:

Despite your protests to the contrary, the very title of your thread 'have fun teabagging' was a direct and not very subtle insult to anyone who disagrees with you.

You may think you're humorous, but those of us who identify with neither the Dems (lefties) or Repubs (right wing nut jobs), aren't amused by your continual provocation.

Thanks for your time (cough).

While we must agree to disagree on this matter, I do respect both your opinion and your right to voice it.

I thank you for your time (without the cough)

Glad we got that disagreement out of the way. Under Obamacare, if you have a cough, you could likely die of lung cancer, pneumonia or some other 'overlooked' problem before a doctor gets around to scheduling an appointment with you to determine the cause of your 'cough'.

Sorry, but no. That is if you were addressing me. Many people might find you amusing but I'm not one of them.

Hope that doesn't hurt your over-inflated ego. [:D]

As opposed to the current system where if I have a cough, lung cancer or pneumonia I will die because some insurance company panel discovers some way to claim that because I didn't report a sneeze that occurred ten years ago, they can deny the coverage I have been paying for for years?

Again, let me point out that some countries that consider themselves quite civilized such as France, England and Canada all have national health care programs. While these programs may not be perfect, I have not heard of multitudes in any of those countries dropping dead on the street for lack of adequate medical care.

(by the way, while I disagree with the thrust, I thought that twist on the "cough" comment was very good. Satire and humor are both appropriate methods of political debate no matter what side they come from. Please also note that I take no umbrage at your use of Obamacare instead of the preferred term on the pro side of the debate: Health Care Reform)

Lucylastic -> RE: Have Fun Teabagging Washington (9/13/2009 5:54:23 PM)

oh bloody hell, from the sublime  to the totally bloody ridiculous
