Oh, ok.  Thanks for pointing that out.  Perhaps I should ask what sort of social skills we are talking about here?

I feel that I have some characteristics that fit your definition of a "Cabbage Patch Submissive", so perhaps I can shed some light on this.

As a person I am quite reserved and often reluctant to voice my opinions and speak my mind freely.  It takes time to become comfortable with new people and open up.  So I have a rather passive nature which I believe is directly related to my identifying as a submissive.  I understand that I am just one example of a submissive and I don't pretend for a second that all submissives fit this pattern.  In fact, I don't know if any submissives do.  But if more do exist, then their personality, like mine, is likely hidden just below the surface.  For those who have the patience, just peel back the outer leaves and take a closer look.  Who knows what you might find, maybe even a big green caterpillar [;)]

By the way, I just loved your cabbage patch analogy.  I can't help thinking of how, if left unpicked, any cabbage will become tough, woody and go to seed.

It isn't shyness and I would not be impatient with someone who was shy or to some degree, passive. I wouldn't call you a cabbage patch submissive! lol I think the point is, that you have an opinion or view of things and know about yourself and life, whether you are open to express them freely or not. You are not lost, with no understanding of how a relationship might work or how a dominant might feel and how to live life. You are only shy about presenting it all. That is different than what I mean.

What I am talking about basically is a person who is above say twenty one, who doesn't have a clue about how to function in society or within a relationship or with a woman/dominant, as if we are alien creatures. I guess it is hard to explain without getting into details which could sound rather harsh and as if there is no acceptance for some struggle someone might have.

I can be patient and teach, but I cannot be patient or teach elementary things. I cannot think for someone else and I expect them to be able to think for themselves, have opinions and interest and not be empty of personality or life experiences that would make them interesting to talk to and not someone who sits and waits for me to instruct them in all things. They don't need me to tell them what to think, what to do and how to do simple things. I am not a human programer.

And I am too foggy to explain this very well... my bad! lol

Going for more coffee... I can really type and talk... I can!

gentlemanprince -> RE: Cabbage patch submissive’s… (9/13/2009 2:43:22 PM)

Lockit, I'll have plenty of opinions .... just as soon as a Domme tells me what they are.

Lockit -> RE: Cabbage patch submissive’s… (9/13/2009 2:45:50 PM)

ROFL... yeah okay! I know better!

lovingpet -> RE: Cabbage patch submissive’s… (9/13/2009 5:33:54 PM)

I get it Lockit really I do. I have sat down with people in their 40's and 50's who asked me if it was alright to feel they way they did or be who they are. I have met with individuals who I literally had to demand that they eat a fruit or vegetable and lay off the cake nevermind that I knew they had already suffered heart incidents and had diabetes. I have had the unfortunate feeling of the guy across the table from me, my age or much higher, hoping that he was going to see his first pussy or ta tas ever with me. I have had people talk with me for the first time and spew one profanity after another, nevermind I had told them that I don't care for potty mouth. I have seen people walk in for me to see them for the first time filthy, smelly, and down right scuzzy. I just want to know who their mommy was so I can smack the crap out of her because she apparently missed the boat on teaching them a damn thing. They are unkempt, penniless, and clueless. I am not trying to be harsh either, but I have seen it time and again. I just don't understand what I am supposed to be enamoured with either. Like I said, if I wanted a child I would have another. If I wanted to train for basic household manners, I'd get a puppy.

Shyness I can live with. Passiveness, gently stated opinions, etc are all fine. I just need someone who appears to have been walking this planet all his/her life prior to me. I actually like life experience and points of view. Maybe I'm the strange one, who knows.

PS: I still think we should spank Lockit and I am totally ready to give Politesub as swat or two since he was so..... polite [:D]

pyroaquatic -> RE: Cabbage patch submissive’s… (9/13/2009 8:35:32 PM)

Okay Cabbage Submissive's. The mission is to become a beet, then a chicken, then a cow... so that way one may aspire to be a steak for this lovely domina.

GET TO TURNIN!!!

*inserts the chicken noodle into computer via modem, fries computer, goes to bed.

SweetDommes -> RE: Cabbage patch submissive’s… (9/13/2009 8:36:34 PM)

Just keep the chicken feet out of it and we're good.

Elastic -> RE: Cabbage patch submissive’s… (9/14/2009 12:18:53 AM)

Thankyou for clarifying that, Lockit and lovingpet.  I think I now have a better picture of what was meant by "cabbage patch submissives".  For one thing, it sounds like they have a serious deficiency in basic common sense.  Anyway, at least now I know I am not a cabbage.  Perhaps a chicken, but not a cabbage [;)]

What is with these adults who come in asking elementary questions that life should have already taught them about? Or am I expecting too much? Are they handicapped and need our assistance? Is it too much to ask that the man I paddle, cuddle and make love to has a bit more to offer than a lump of veggie?

I think it's often something very simple. So many of them who come here don't equate a submissive/dominant relationship as a "relationship" and think it's some kind of entity that they have to discover. When they're told that you have to do a lot of things in a D/s relationship that is JUST LIKE a normal relationship, they still don't understand. That's just the honest ones. The fake ones, well they're another story as I'm sure they ask all sorts of questions hoping to either get wanking fodder or someone who might be fooled into taking them on as a free client, rather than as a partner or anything of that nature.

LadySweetOrSour -> RE: Cabbage patch submissive’s… (9/14/2009 12:54:16 AM)

I once had a 38 year old sub ask me how he should feel about his wife. Should be be angry with her because she wasn't dominant? Should he be afraid that she would find out he was a sub?

As far as I know he is still unowned. I wonder why?
