No vision problems. When I blink, I get dots, but who doesn't? I can't blink without my eyes... Kind of like... A bright light or a... Yeah, a real sparkly map. Thats about it. Never had my eyes dilated. Wouldn't know. Heard of a Chiari Malformation. May try for an MRI but I doubt my doctor would go for it. Besides, I'm leaving California in three weeks. And I highly doubt they would administer a spinal tap by patient request.

My doctor is going to think I'm a freaking Munchhausen.

Never been tested for Lyme, but also, never had a tick.

Thank you!

Took birth control, still had migraines. Stopped birth control, still have migraines, and NOW, I have no period for the last, oh, 11 months. Yeah, great fun. Menopause at 19!

Time for you to have a new set of docs.  If you have a choice, change during open enrollment.  Or see if you can change gatekeepers.  To get to the bottom of this you need more testing.

It's interesting to me that your doctor suggested that you begin taking CoQ10.. Do you have a history of any high blood pressure issues? My experience is CoQ10 allowed me to stop taking prescripion blood pressure medication but only when i took at least 400 mg of it.

Things like your visual field going dark or going sparkly when you stand up? Anyone seen swollen optic nerves (exam when your pupils are dilated)? Some of this sounds like pseudotumor cerebri (benign intracranial hypertension). Or a Chiari Malformation. To diagnose the first, you need an MRI plus a spinal tap, the second you need an MRI.

Are there ombudsmen at Kaiser that you could appeal to?

Have you been tested for Lyme disease?

Hoping this whole topic's not been too frustrating...

I saw this and I though whoa!

Not to derail the topic but...

Yes it does go dark when I stand up (and sometimes I lose all sensation)
and yes I have been tested for lyme disease. It came out positive. Infact I do know I have it for there was a giant bullseye on my back.

I had an injection but I still have joint stiffness.

What does this mean?

Back to discussion... and also.... I am sorry to hear of these migraines.

:c

I guess that is because of your aberrant diet.

Better get another antibiotic course for the Lyme. Consult your physician.

As for your visual problems when standing up, I seem to recall that it may be caused by blood pressure problems. Better consult your physician for that as well.

Lymes disease is not curable. It takes numerous treatments, as I've learned. You will always have it, it takes managing the symptoms. Or, am I wrong?

Why do I feel like I am involved in an episode of "House M.D."?

Sunnyfey -> RE: Migraine Medications (9/18/2009 8:05:04 PM)

I juts hope you are taking vitamins with all the rest of the pills they have you on. A multi vitamin and maybe an iorn pill (As long as your doc is ok with it)

pyroaquatic -> RE: Migraine Medications (9/18/2009 8:59:29 PM)

The lyme disease thing I am going to have to manage it for life. Stretching, lots of stretching, and sticking around places that are warm all year round. (hello florida)

As for the blood pressure thing...

*shrugs*

My blood pressure is usually normal unless I am stung.

Hmmm....

I do not think the Tylenol 3 would work for you symptoms KittyCat. If you have tried everything I don't think that would work.

I would not take anything for a while and live in the darkness. Get on some serious disability (for it sounds terrible).

A Trepanation Procedure may be another course you could take. It would certainly promote oxygen flow to the brain and relieve cranial pressure. And we have come a long way from using bones to do this...

We have power tools.

DesFIP -> RE: Migraine Medications (9/18/2009 9:04:41 PM)

Pyro, have you seen an infectious disease specialist? If the symptoms are recurring, or continuing, then you need more than one shot. You may need IV antibiotics over a period of time. Plus the fact that you got it once, doesn't mean you can't get it again.

BossyShoeBitch -> RE: Migraine Medications (9/18/2009 9:27:04 PM)

Depends.  If he is speaking in his natural accent, I get first dibs!!

pyroaquatic -> RE: Migraine Medications (9/18/2009 9:29:26 PM)

These are symptoms I will have for the rest of my life... despite whatever 'treatment' I receive. I do have to go to the doctor for a physical, though.

The thing about lyme disease is that you have it. It does not go away. I'll deal with it.

Believe it or not but hacky sack and yoga have been my saviours.

xoxkittenxox -> RE: Migraine Medications (9/18/2009 9:32:12 PM)

I don't think so, Missy! I will beat you up for him! Hes sooooo pretty! And, I know I have to do something but I am just so tired of all these strange drugs. Someone mentioned that the side effects are almost worse than the disease its treating. I agree with this. I'm worried about how my body will react to all these drugs in the long run.
