No, I agree that CNN tried to marginalize the protesters. In other words, while its true that CNN may have shown pictures or video of the protests and had some talking heads on, that doesn't mean that CNN covered the story.

Spin, spin away, until you get dizzy and fall down.

He had sources he believed were true.  There is a difference between lying and making errors in verification..

He was a lying sack of shit and a disgrace to his profession.  Dan Rather's legacy is a permanent stain upon CBS News.

I see.

And do you have other examples of his being a "lying sack of shit"?

Or are you basing this all on one incident, which he publicly apologized for, in an otherwise distinguished career.

What's the Frequency, Kenneth?

Two other examples of Dan Rather being a "lying sack of shit" were his lying reports from Vietnam as Walter Cronkite's protegee' and his lying about George H.W. Bush.

Fox is now the authority on what is a major story, what is news worthy and what should be front page vs page 20?
You don't think the Acorn story is newsworthy?  You don't think the fact that there are those of us out here who protest Obama's policies who AREN'T racist or nutso but the networks never seem to find us kind of strange?

They are no more an authority than CBS, ABC, NBC...and no less of one either.

He went to air, as the anchor of the once respected CBS Evening News, with documents that were obviously, blatantly, forged.  That is enough to condemn him forever, and call into question everything else he ever did.

Would you apply the same standard to, just for an example, a cop who was only recorded calling a suspect "nigger" on one occasion?

tazzygirl -> RE: FNC lies again? (9/19/2009 11:54:59 AM)

Which is why you should watch more than one news source.

All of the covered the march... all covered ACORN... just because they didnt make it the priority some believe it should have been, doesnt make them less of a news company.

Well...

The pictures prove one thing...

There were a right set more than 75,000 people there.

And how can you tell that?

Did you count?

Clearly you didn't

As stated, the forged documents are more than enough.but let's also look at his "military record," shall we?

From well before he self-destructed:

What the fuck are you talking about, Ken???

(And are these the sort of racists who treat people differently based on the color of their skin, or the new definition racists who don't treat people differently based on the ciolor of their skin?)

Sanity -> RE: FNC lies again (9/19/2009 12:53:20 PM)

You can't see the difference? When an individual commits an atrocious offense it doesn't necessarily affect whatever entire group he may be a part of.

About time someone takes on Fox for the endless lies.

Dan Rather, maybe?

Once again a wonderful example of "My side is no better than your side so it's ok" reasoning. Dan Rather, by the way, was disgraced after a rather notable journalistic career for his poor reporting on one story. What would you say should be done with the liars on the conservative side of the street?

Dan Rather was forced to resign in disgrace because he was caught lying while manipulating the 2004 presidential election.

He had sources he believed were true.  There is a difference between lying and making errors in verification..

Oh, wait a minute ... this is your new definition of "not a lie"?

Can I quote you in the future on this?

It's your standard not mine. I'm just pointing out the inherent idiocy of 'one strike and you're out.'

No, Spinner, but nice try.  Dan Rather was THE face of CBS news, as Cronkite was before him.  The network news anchor.  Not a commentator/editorialist as O'Reilly or Beck or Hannity or Olberman or Maddow or whoever the flavor of the week might be.

You do understand the difference between a journalist and a commentator, right?

Well, Ken, there are strikes, and boo-boos, and then there are heinous breaches of faith, and unforgivable crimes against ones profession, and those who trusted you.

Sure!

A journalist is someone who reports the news that you like and agree with.

A commentator is someone who reports the news that you dislike and disagree with.

Simple! [:D]

Unforgiveable crime? Making a single report based on false evidence? Doesn't that same standard render all of FNC as completely beyond the pale for their reporting of the SBVT stuff?

This has been an exceptionally funny week watching you guys tie yourselves in knots with your double standards.
