september -> slave vs submissive, what's the difference? (2/28/2006 3:57:10 PM)

As everyone might know or does not, I am, one, new to the scene and, two, looking for a long-term submissive. I just met a slave who I will be interviewing at a restaurant tomorrow (due to your advice and I know that is for the best). Over the phone, he told me a bit about his last experience where he was in a staple with two other slaves and how, at one point, he even turned over his paycheck to his Domme. She had cages for the three in her spare bedroom and all three obviously served her.

While much of what he spoke of appealled to me, some of it was a little extention for me. I do want total control but there is something exciting about it being very voluntary and not a breaking down of a slave as he described. There is a little more to what he said and I am giving a general overview. I understand that doesn't have to be for me.

What I would like to know is, what is the difference between a submissive and a slave. Is there a difference at all?

Nothing. Not a freaking thing because all of these terms are so subjective, anyone can put themselves in any catagory at any time.

It's just fodder for the power politics.

If you click "search" at the top and put in "slave submissive" and change the options to topics and subjects you will find a lot of threads on this.

The difference depends on the person using the terms.

I have my own very solid definitions and I do see them as different.

The key is to be clear who you mean by the terms and find someone with the compatible meanings.

The difference is level of surrender.
A slave is in a 24/7 relationship - not always live-ine, but all encompassing. A slave is always their owner's property and has completely given up control to their owner.
A submissive is not property. A sub has not given up all control.
