I am wondering.  I got upset the other day over a "still looking for the prosac" in reply to a comment I made on another message board.

This was the poster 2nd reference to prosac aimed at me.

Why am I fuming over this?    There is more.   My first reply was   Fuck You!.   A minute after that post- I deleted the thread.   (I am a mod)   I banned the guy for 7 days- and emailed the owner as to why.

Later that day- he (owner) posted- "personal vendetta"  in regards to me- deleting the thread- he reversed the ban- and said that he is chubby and that if he takes jabs on being chubby that the mods must have thick skin.

Knowing the stigma of prosac- and the mess - ...   the owner did not reply to my email.

Anyhow I am not sure why this bothers me.  Maybe that chubby people don't give up on life the way depressed people might.

Is there something I am overlooking?

I don't know how I separated the interesting part of "me" from the annoying part of "me"- in a way it is a package deal.

Would you put up with repeated prosac comments?      As you may recall- I attempted to get off of all meds.  My effort did not work and returned to the SSRIs.     This was posted about on this other board.

I want to leave that board.  It does not seem to have a leave button... tho being a mod  I might be able to ban myself.

In the grand scheme of things- it doesnt mater that much- but in the meantime I have been fuming.

Any thoughts?

(gentle please...)

Fat, Ugly, Fucked Up, or Stupid...... Sometimes people are just assholes.

andi was on Prozac and is now on something stronger.

You are most likely upset because you are an emotional person and it upset you..... NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THAT.

Just ask yourself how long you are going to be letting this guy control YOUR emotions.

You have no control over what someone says. You DO have control over the way you react to it.

That is true.  I will snap out of it.   Not this very minute- but worse things can happen... thanks!  :-)

That is true.  I am emotional.   It will become a learning experience.  Maybe I should have just ignored it.

Sometimes people take jabs at others just see the reaction. Sad, but true. So if you don't react outwardly to him, he doesn't get what he's looking for and goes away. Almost like a schoolyard bully.

Another reaction is to come back to them with humor... "i know, isn't awful, all of us here just waiting for help?" (Include him in the "all of us" thing... because sometimes those who criticize others really fear the same things in themselves.)

Finally... regarding the not belonging there, couldn't You just choose not to go there anymore? Not log on or be invisible or even just end your membership? I'm pretty sure if you felt you needed to leave for your own health, the owners would allow you to give up your mod job.

I totally agree with the idea above that you are in control of your reactions... it's a matter of choice. When i'm not sure how to react or what to do, i do nothing initially... sit still, think, sort my thoughts...then act rationally. At times i've even told myself not to respond to an email for a whole day... 24 hours...to be sure i wasn't doing a knee-jerk reaction to something.

Hope some of this helps somehow.

You reacted this way because there was a button pushed. What's your issue with Prozac? Or is it something else in that thread? You need to go back and re-read it. trust me. The second time around it wont have the same impact.

Or if you find the exact same spot hits you exactly the same way, then STOP, right at that moment and think it thru. Whats the problem? It's in there somewhere. Make yourself aware of what it is that bothers you. Don't run away from it. Confront yourself head on. Try it.

I find I don't go back and read the threads I post on. I wonder why that really is. Am I afraid of what someone might say? or am I as truly forgetful of where I last posted. Maybe you think you've said it all and there is no more.

Maybe I'll stop back and re-read this thread. Cant say for sure.

Good point.   Most the time- I just take a break.

I might have worn out my welcome.   Anyone gets tired of too much of one person.  Which if they thought I was upsetting- I tone it down quite a bit for what comprises of a good portion of bible thumpers.

Can you block his posts so you don't read them? Email the owner, other mods that you won't be reading him and they need to censor him if necessary.

Or just give up being a mod and take back the right to tell him off.

In a way-  my "moderator" position, (other board not this one)  is not one where I have the luxury of calling a shot.  He should have discussed it with me prior to announcing personal vendetta.  I did what I thought should be done so there was not a public display of the laundry.

I have moderated- owned- built- many yahoo groups- at one time over 20 going at the same time.  So I resent my "Internet skills" being a "personal vendetta".

With better familiarity, sending a warning rather then banning for 7 days.. might have been better.

Funny thing- we spun off of an UN-moderated board- to get AWAY from the detractors.

...at the end of the day- I guess I don't care.

Dear pahunkboy,
I think it hurts because that guy hurt you. He did mean that comment as a barb, right? He wanted to hurt - why you, i don't know - he could be jealous, anything. I feel confused in the rare event someone speaks or acts to intentionally hurt me. Most especially when i have been good and there is no reason at all. It's like kicking the dog, to kick me. No reason at all.

See, now that's why I would make a shitty Mod...I would have left the remark as posted, and your initial reply as well. I wouldn't bother trying to stop flame wars...in fact as a Mod I really wouldn't do much of anything except read and enjoy.

At first I wanted to just say FU then that would be the end of it.  except for it would set up a public snafu.   And yet- my action did so anyway- so per haps this is a no matter what you do- it is going be icky- thing.  no win.

BTW- a few of my videos have gotten some views on a newer (not youtube) site.   lol.
