I have done a search and didn't find My answer so - does the steel cable running through it set the airport security off?  If so, how can it be remedied?

I can't quite figure out what the answer is you can't find.

Umm, let's see...

Steel sets off metal detectors

If you don't want the metal detector set off, you don't take the steel, or you put it through the x-ray machine in your hand luggage.

Or you buy your own airplane

Hope that helps...

It could be remedied by not using it (I'm helpful like that)[;)]

or take it off before ya enter n put it back on afterwards..[8|]

Having forgotten that there is lead shot counterweighting the handle of my flogger and having it set off the metal detector in my carry on luggage, I will tell you that they take you to the side and do a more thorough evaluation.

Look 'em right in the eye and tell them that it's a sex toy. They'll send you into a private area and inspect that indeed it is so and let you get on the plane.

My sister was flying with me that trip and just stood there by me while I was explaining the whole concept of the flogger to the VERY interested security guards muttering "I can't take you anywhere!"

Depends on total metal on your person.  I went through security twice with a 6g CBR pa piercing, no problemo.  Knowing that I had said metal on penis I did remove my watch with metal band to lower total metal count.

Greetings Elaine et al.....

I do not work for TSA but I my work does involve people going through airport security. You are talking about the magnomiters or the archways people walk through, usually called metal detectors. The simple answer is that it depends on the metal and where it is located. The closer to the center line the metal is the less it will set the thing off. The closer to the edges, like a watch, the more it will set it off. If you know you will trigger it or think you will, stop before going through and tell the nice person on the other side that you will or think you may set it off. Go through when they tell you to do so. If you do this, they will stay very nice to you. You can tell them privately why you will or did set it off if it is not obvious.

My slave went through the magnomiters many times wearing her Turian collar and did this and she had no problems with them. Sometimes it didn't even set it off. They usually asked if she had a key for it and when told no, just wanded her down and let her go through. If you know you will set it off, add five to ten minutes to get through security and tell the person checking you to go ahead and do what they need to do, they have your permission so they don't have to ask or explain things every time. Once you do it a few times it is not a big deal.

I hope this helps.

Be well.....

Malkinius

Another way to do this is to not go through the main line - there should be a second line for people with no photo ID. Go to that line instead. You will have a lot less flapping ears to deal with.

I wish to apologize for not replying sooner.  I checked the little box for notification to no avail.
Thank everyone EXCEPT antipode for their helpful information.  I think I will have him take it out before flying.
