Most Americans are not afraid of change so much as they're afraid that the current administration is going to lead us down the road to socialism.  IF that be the case then why do they believe a living will equates to death panels?  Why does cutting waste equal cutting benefits?  Those are people who either are too intimidated to learn the truth or being too frightened by the people who know better.  And yes, get as radical as the ones saying it when they are bullied into thinking someone's trying to hurt, not help (or stand) for them.

Never in the history of the U.S. has there been as much of a threat bearing down on us as under the administration of Barack Hussein Obama. I don't know what threats you see.  Alot of people don't agree with big gov't, I know.  But as someone said on another thread, when the folks on Wall St pissed away their money, it was the little guy who had to open his pocket book because Wall St went to that oh so big bad gov't for help. The gov't is always the first one blamed and the first one expected to fix the problem.

I support the founding fathers of this country. Barack Hussein Obama does not. The founding fathers of the U.S. warned against a global government. They also warned that the U.S. should not involve themselves in wars that don't directly affect the U.S. borders. And you think the Mexican drug cartel, invading American boarders in AZ isn't directly involving the US?  The drugs aren't, the illegals agreeing to be paid dirt cheap as laborers for construction companies making millions for the jobs that those illegals are doing isn't impacting our country, already?  Among all the other reasons people are against illegal immigration.  And for what its worth, I don't see how you can say any American president isn't aware of, and in support of the founding fathers of our country.  But maybe I am naive (my husband says I can be)

George Bush and others before him ignored that advice. That's why I continue to say that I'm neither Democrat or Republican, but rather Libertarian. Good for you.

I still believe in the basic tenets the founding fathers of the U.S laid out. I'm in the minority and I know it. But I'm not backing down just because I'm in the minority. I'll keep supporting the tenets the founding fathers of this country specified. I'll keep independantly believing what I believe.  At times it seems to be the only sensible thing to do.

And be damned to those who choose to ignore the finest minds that ever governed the United States and fought tooth and nail to insure that our government would be free of entangling ties with any nation that did not directly threaten our own borders.

According to you. and thank you for your opinion, for that is all it is... your opinion.

First of all I took you off ignore since you made it clear that you were going to continue to harass me. And aside from that, you still did not get a clue from Ayn Rand.

You just keep coming across as pretty effing dense.

tazzygirl -> RE: The Lie Machine (9/29/2009 7:08:35 PM)

again, your opinion. of which i choose to discount [:D]

but, again you are showing your age.

and all i am doing is answering yoru posts. i hardly see that clarifying my relationships.. which are truly none of your business... and commenting when you post directly to me, are signs of harrassment.

if you are that thin skinned, perhaps another set of boards may be better suited to your self-absorbed needs.

Face it...you are OLD. I'm not. Deal with it. I'm not thin skinned. I just have an issue with old people like you telling me how I should raise my kids if I ever have any.

Google her name. Then tell me if you have read any of her books. Then tell me how she was WRONG when she chose the U.S. to relocate to. Tell me how she was wrong when in her novel 'Atlas Shrugged", her speech from the fictional character 'John Galt" was somehow off the mark.

Even Ayn Rand subconsciously knew the idea supported by the John Galt idea was untrue. The central tenet of Atlas Shrugged is that the 'prime movers' are the sole support of society and without them society will collapse and therefore the 'prime movers' should be free to act without hindrance. However even in Rand's own novel she doesn't portray that as occuring. Instead the 'prime movers' must resort to a campaign of terrorism to bring down society.

Why anyone would believe in her libertarian nonsense even when she didn't escapes me.

Actually every poll conducted on the issue shows upwards of of 2/3rds of Americans support a socialized medical system.

My comment was essentially that Rolling Stone is so blatantly biased that anything coming from them is an absolute joke - look at that artwork.

You can't be serious, this is like posting a piece from Rushlimbaugh.com and expecting it to be taken seriously, its absolutely the same.

Strange....back in '93 they ran a long piece about a new drug that was chewing up Hawai'i, and predicted it would be a real scourge when it hit the rest of the country.

It was crystal [meth].

Can't believe anything, eh?

Actually Sanity, I became "indignant" (not really, but that's the word you used) not over anything you said about Rolling Stone, but because you focused your reply on the supposed lack of validity of Rolling Stone as a source, and completely ignored the University of Alberta link, it was posted first, the Rolling Stone link was merely provided as a supporting source.

I hate to break it to you Sanity, but very little that you post even begins to bother me, let alone make me indignant...you spout out your opinions as hardened fact and refuse to ever provide any back-up for what you claim...thus you are generally ignorable in most threads, other than the outrageousness of some of your claims. And its a genuine pity too, you used to post sensible input and well reasoned points...now, not so much.

Its a little odd, but Sanity and Leirin have made some fun of me, and Leirin has trashed SpinnerOfTales, and this without either of us even posting to the thread. Its nice to know we are so much in their thoughts that they have to bring us up in threads that are in no way related to us...sort of like the way Sanity makes every thread he comes across about Obama.[:D]

Let's face it Sanity, any media source that doesn't agree with you is "as biased as biased gets".

Lucy,

If I wanted to take the time to do your research for you, I could come up with at least a few dozen quotes where the founding fathers of the U.S. warned against entangling alliances with countries who posed no direct threat to U.S. borders.
But since I'm not inclined to do your work for you....just Google for yourself. Too many of you are just lazy and have no real idea what the U.S. founding fathers intended as a basis for the U.S. in its inception.

And you my dear lady are seriously misunderstanding what I was saying.......
I didn't mention the founding fathers, I said  "You might not see the benefit, so its a socialist scheme
", lets keep the dead old men out of it.

And just as  FUN side note, you can Google some of the BS SpinnerofTales keeps throwing out. But I doubt many will bother to question SpinnerofTales even though he's clearly supporting a U.S. regime under Obama that would make even Hitler green with envy.
OOOOH goody a fun side note..oooh hang on...could you give me some clues as to the BS he has thrown out?, just so I can google it? no forget it Im kidding , Im not interested, I lean more to the left than he does.

Spinner clearly has tazzy in is tidy whities despite her protests that she is collared to someone other than him.
You have a malicious streak too, how special

In fact, SpinnerofTales is so far out of control, and THINKS he's funny that I blocked him from c-mailing me ever again. Take that as you will. Tazzygirl thinks I'm being dramatic. My own personal take is I'm being PRAGMATIC in blocking someone like SpinnerofTales when in one of his c-mails to me he attacked me just as he did on a public forum.
Is that all it takes? Then please put me on block too, that will save us both a spanking from Madame 11

This man THINKS he's funny, when in fact to most of us, he's just damned offensive.
There is a poll?? no one linked it , did it close?? Can I still vote?  what were the numbers like?
Spinner made me snort a cigarette across the room the other week...thats never happened before, in fact I think it was one of his responses to you that caused it.

I have no use for asses who pose as dominants just for the sake of propagating their own uninformed opinions on who should do what with whom.
I have no use for you for many reasons.
cest la vie

Anyone want to talk about the actual topic?

Because I don't think there is one post in this whole thread that referred to it.

More conservative diversion tactics?

Which tenets do you support, Leiren? The one that said that African Americans were 3/5ths of a person? How about the one that said that Native Americans (who kind of thought this country was their's until the colonists came and showed them the truth) weren't citizens of the country where they had been born for generations? Could you be supporting the tenet that women didn't have the intelligence, the maturity or the wisdom to be given the right to vote? Are those the tenets that you support so proudly.

Don't get me wrong. I think the USA was a pretty good idea. I'm glad they came up with it. But the best idea that our founding fathers had was the idea that changes could be made and things could be made better. By trying to move us back over two centuries to a world long gone by dishonors the very union they hoped to create.

Oh...and just in case there's a question on the test: Obama is the laid back black guy living in the white house. Hitler was the littler German guy with the funny mustache who shouted a lot. It would be so nice if some people learned to tell the difference.
