Toppingfrmbottom -> Can I give him my UTI from having sex? (10/2/2009 6:20:14 PM)

Neither of us are sure if I could or not, and we really wouldn't want to do that if it was possible.

pure, we probably won't, but I was curious, and there's always condoms,

DesFIP -> RE: Can I give him my UTI from having sex? (10/3/2009 7:11:44 AM)

The urethra in a male is much longer than in a woman and therefore it is highly unlikely that a germ will travel all the way up there. In women, the passage is so short that infections do frequently travel it.

I've heard of males getting it but it is more common for a male to have an actual urinary problem, such as a backup in the pipes, to actually get a UTI. I highly doubt sex could give him one, though. It is too long and as soon as anything started traveling up, something would flush it right out. Too much going on. If you are worried and desperate, just use a condom. ^^

Desperate, who me? never* cheeky grin*

Yeah that's what I said, there's always condom use if you're worried. We actually never use condoms normally so never have any around, but at the street fair in Sanfransico the booths were handing them out and we picked up a few.

This shows the balance inherent in nature. While on the bad side, the length of the path  involved makes it more difficult for intelligent thought to reach home...this is in turn compensated by that same long path assisting us in preventing at least some disease.

:)

Men are built quite differently from women; no, I wouldn't think it possible.

Might be more problem on the woman's side - sometimes fornication can irritate the urethra even more, when you've already got a bladder infection.

IF the antibiotic you are on gives you a yeast infection, it would be possible for you to transfer that to him, but him catching a UTI is unlikely.

Why not ask your doctor?

Aswad -> RE: Can I give him my UTI from having sex? (10/4/2009 9:47:31 PM)

That would be too simple and sensible, Tim. [:D]

Health,

Actually I forgot to ask her when I was in the office, and then I didn't want to call in.  At least I'm not asking every one to tell me I am ok after falling down and jamming my wrist and not being able to lift anything heavier than a water bottle, because then I'd agree it was insensivble to ask a bunch of strangers most with no medical degree to  diagnose me.

While technically possible it's highly unlikely. I'm a laboratory pathologist and when we find a woman with a UTI it's pretty straightforward and common. Finding a man with a UTI is a major alarm that something is really wrong, usually they ill in some other way such as immunosuppression or  have been engaged in unsafe urethra play.

NovelApproach -> RE: Can I give him my UTI from having sex? (10/18/2009 4:27:19 AM)

Short answer - he won't get it, but yours might get worse.  Take it easy until you get better.
