Thanks for posting that, MsFlutter.

It's a topic I follow with much interest.

In general, when it comes to birth-control, the more options the better!

(Caveat that the following is about the general topic, & less about the specific article.)

I'm gonna be very cynical & sexist here & share that I suspect men won't go for the level of contraceptive-associated risk as women have put up with. I'm having a hard time seeing guys going for something that increases their heart attack & stroke risk, which is the case for women's chemical contraceptives . . . . . The article doesn't discuss the details of the contraceptive they're testing, but I know the Chinese have been hard at work on developing a male chemo-therapeutic contraceptive, & they've come up against this problem . . . .

The problem I see is the only way they know if it works is if she gets pregnant. And if people don't want a baby, they aren't willing to flip a coin to see if they're protected or not.

Could be similar to post-vasectomy, where stored sperm is worked out of the system & the guy goes in & gets his sperm levels tested . . . . (Vasectomy also can include waiting a set period of time, which can / is impacted by how much ejaculation occurs . . . . )

I fully expect that once they work out the details, male chemical contraceptives will have every bit as much impact on the culture as the female version has had . . . .. Tho' how that'll play out is a little hazy . . . .
