That's it, Don Imus! He was kicked off the air by screaming liberals for "offending" people.
Last time I checked it's not against the law to "offend" someone.

Last time I checked, the management taking an entertainer off the air was not a government or law enforcement action, Popeye.

This is quite true Spinner, but that has no bearing on the fact that they operate in some ways, almost as a type of law enforcement. Actually had this conversation a few days ago. A good portion of American life is run by bullies, and the sticks they carry are offense and boycott.

Almost makes you wanna create a nationwide group of boycotters who boycott anything the bullies successfully ram through. I mean hell, they run around threatening to boycott in an attempt to get advertisers to pull their dollars. So we could threaten to boycott if the advertisers capitulate.

Only problem with that is most of us just want others to leave us the fuck alone and stay out of our lives. Sooner or later however, I think we're all going to wake up to the realization that neither left nor right is going to do so. We're in a civil war of sorts, only it's not being fought with guns.

Rush is out. The only thing that remains are the slander lawsuits coming from Rush. Never fear though. It's still ok for convicted felons to play in the NFL. All is good in the world of liberals and the politically correct.

I wonder if Al Sharpton wanted to buy the team, would they let him?

Slander?

He has absolutely no grounds for that.

Although I would love to see him try, and then see how many lawsuits would be filed by the people he disparages on a daily basis.

Of course they would...but then, he's only guilty of ruining innocent white cops' lives with his false accusations of rape in the T. Brawley case.  But remember, it cannot be racist when it comes from any color besides white.

Same with Jesse Jackson.  The would not dare turn him down...he might throw a boycott at them, one of his favorite tactics.  He's only guilty of comments like "Hymie-town" and hypocrisy like counseling Bill Clinton while trying to keep secret the fact that he'd fathered a child with another woman while being married.

Isn't it just AMAZING that all these deleterious, racist comments that Rush made...cited by bluepanda...are just now making their appearance 10-15 years after allegedly being made?  And isn't it funny how now that he is out, all of a sudden the sources of these quotes are turning out to be not as credible as first believed?

CD you seem to be missing the whole point of the Rush rejection.....the NFL doesn't like controversy....Sharpton would be allowed in the day Rush gets named Commisioner...
This is hilarious the NFL turns down a blowhard like Rush....and you guys react as if league ownership is made up of a bunch of liberals...

The NFL doesn't like controversy...I see...that must explain why they allow a convicted felon like Michael Vick back on the playing field and why they allow Pac-Man Jones to continue playing and of course, there IS that nice Al Davis and Jerry Jones.

slvemike4u -> RE: Sharpton has asked the NFL to nix Limbaugh's purchase of the Rams (10/15/2009 12:05:29 PM)

Michael Vick is talent(talent has allways been subject to different rules...not nice, but it is what it is) went to jail ...paid his debt to society.Found a team willing to employ him....I don't see the problem(I don't like it....but it is what it is)
Where's PacMan Jones playing?
Jerry Jones is a well respected owner....whats your problem with him?
Al Davis would never be allowed to buy a team today......but seeing as he allready owns one.....this isn't a problem for him...but has most certainly been a headache for every Commisioner since Rozelle. But again ...whats your problem with him?

Awful hard to refer to comments made on radio and/or tv as "alleged".
There are fucking recordings and transcripts....are you kidding me?
Edited because I do in fact know how to spell "radio"....sorry,pain pills.

CD made a post that what Panda said isnt true.  I want to know what comments Rush made that have been found not to be true or accurate.

There's no denying that Michael Vick has talent...that does not excuse his actions.  As for paying for his crime...he did that also.  That doesn't mean he is entitled to a job in the N.F.L..  Personally, I am one of those who would have been just as happy or happier if he'd not been allowed back in.
As for Pac-Man Jones, he may well not be playing right now but he certainly did play while going through all his legal troubles and those legal issues were not small issues.
Jerry Jones may well be a respected team owner by some but many consider him to be a fast-talking shyster who built "JerryWorld" with taxpayer dollars (hmmmm, that would make him a liberal, wouldn't it?  Taking what the Government gives you, even when it comes from someone else's hard work).
Al Davis...I suppose I could go on and on about Al Davis but you yourself stated it...He wouldn't be an owner today if he was applying so why doesn't the NFL...in their attempts to avoid controversy...force him out?

OK folks, It IS official that the Rushter is out of the group that is trying to buy part of the Rams.  this leads to the following idea.

Did Rush plan this all along KNOWING that his ownership hopes would be shot down? Also,  now he has something to rail about on his little radio program.  I havent listened to him yet today but Dollars to Donuts, he will be blaming someone for the fact that he couldnt spend his money to buy part of the team.  Who else thinks this is what he planned all along?

kittinSol -> RE: Sharpton has asked the NFL to nix Limbaugh's purchase of the Rams (10/15/2009 12:25:36 PM)

Football is already toxic enough - if that fat cunt Limbaugh had been added to it, it would have needed a government health warning.

Just sayin' [:)] .

tazzygirl -> RE: Sharpton has asked the NFL to nix Limbaugh's purchase of the Rams (10/15/2009 12:28:42 PM)

His first Comment....

"This is not about the NFL, it's not about the St. Louis Rams, it's not about me," Limbaugh said. "This is about the ongoing effort by the left in this country, wherever you find them, in the media, the Democrat Party, or wherever, to destroy conservatism, to prevent the mainstreaming of anyone who is prominent as a conservative.
"Therefore, this is about the future of the United States of America and what kind of country we're going to have."
.....

Checketts, the chairman of SCP Worldwide, announced that Limbaugh had been dumped toward the end of a news release.
"It has become clear that his involvement in our group has become a complication and a distraction to our intentions; endangering our bid to keep the team in St. Louis," Checketts said. "As such, we have decided to move forward without him and hope it will eventually lead us to a successful conclusion."

Checketts said Limbaugh would have not had any say in the direction of the franchise "or in any decisions regarding personnel or operations."
Before getting dropped, Limbaugh said he had no intention of backing out.
"I'm not even thinking of caving," he said. "I am not a caver. Pioneers take the arrows. We are pioneers. It's a sad thing that our country, over 200 years old now, needs pioneers all over again, but we do."

He cannot even own up to his own responsibility in the direction that the League Commish, The Players Union and other Team Owners have taken.

When you speak loudly, others will listen, and remember.  I have often said...

You have the freedom of speech, you can say anything you wish.  Others have the freedom to listen, and to remember.

You can say what you want, just dont whine when it comes back to bite you in the ass.

Vick....Not entitled, obviously no one is "entitled"...on the other hand there was no legal bar to him playing. He found an owner and a franchise which was willing to take the p.r heat for hiring him and did so,I don't see the problem. Its the American way....just as it is your right to grab a sign and boycott or just refuse to watch.
PacMan also was suspended numerous times during his oh so short career ...till finally he was too much of an embarressment.....and had too little talent left in his tank....ergo no longer playing.
Jerry Jones- well if you wish to remove every owner who has convinced a municipality to bankroll their palaces........your going to need a whole new slew of owners.
Al Davis.....just try to get him out! This is why 75% of the owners must agree to potential buyers.....once their in it's not so easy to get them out.
Surely a good conserative like yourself can understand the difference between keeping a man out of an ownership position...and stripping a man of what he owns?

Rush doesn't have the cash for a serious bid. It was never anything beyond a stunt.
