Now that was interesting. Here's a link to the video of Wolf Blitzer asking the father to ask Falcon to explain what he meant by that, and the father's response...

Link!!!

Watch the brother with the red shirt!

LadyCloe -> RE: Anybody Else Watching This? (10/15/2009 10:08:31 PM)

Kid needs his ass beat and parents need to be ordered to pay for rescue efforts.

Lockit -> RE: Anybody Else Watching This? (10/15/2009 10:10:27 PM)

No... I think they were told what to do by the naughty parents. I doubt that he didn't understand the question of.. did you hear people calling your name... he said yes... why didn't you come out... and the link Panda provided says the rest.

sirsholly -> RE: Anybody Else Watching This? (10/16/2009 5:15:14 AM)

was this a hoax?

if it wasn't and that was my kid... i think i would kill him, right after i hugged the stuffing out of him.

DarkSteven -> RE: Anybody Else Watching This? (10/16/2009 6:04:25 AM)

It was about 70 degrees in Denver yesterday and about the same in Fort Collins.  As someone pointed out in Denver Post comments, it would be really hot up in the attic for two hours.

I suspect the kid was told to do what he did.

einstien5201 -> RE: Anybody Else Watching This? (10/16/2009 6:37:26 AM)

Police are now investigating. I guess it's true what they say "Kids say the darndest things!"

Also, it seems to me that a family that would go on a show as awful as "Wife Swap" is probably really hungry for attention.

sirsholly -> RE: Anybody Else Watching This? (10/16/2009 6:55:46 AM)

how any parent could possibly create a scenario which had others thinking their child was possibly killed is way beyond sick.[>:]

Hillwilliam -> RE: Anybody Else Watching This? (10/16/2009 7:02:19 AM)

Let's just say that if I had pulled a stunt like that, I wouldnt be here today

CreativeDominant -> RE: Anybody Else Watching This? (10/16/2009 7:20:40 AM)

I know this...if the kids are the ones behind it and the parents had nothing to do with it...if that had been me, I would not have sat comfortably for about a week.  IF the parents are the ones behind the hoax, then whatever money they make for their appearances/book/whatever should go to pay for the costs of this search.

Rule -> RE: Anybody Else Watching This? (10/16/2009 8:06:56 AM)

I watched TDP's link. I got the impression that the kids were disinterested, that the woman is submissive or subjugated and that the father is dominant and in charge of what happens. I haven't followed this case, but from what I have seen the father is behind it all.

LaTigresse -> RE: Anybody Else Watching This? (10/16/2009 8:19:44 AM)

I know who I would give the spanking/whipping to and it isn't the child.

AlwaysLisa -> RE: Anybody Else Watching This? (10/16/2009 9:56:30 AM)

Geesh...some peoples kids.    And I don't mean the children in this case.   Not only were they on Wife Swap, they have been tornado chasers, created a sort of craft to fly into space and a few other schemes to gain attention.

Out of the mouths of babes?    "Because you told me to Daddy", was stated.   As mentioned, hiding in the attic for two hours seems unreasonable for a child, especially an active little boy.  Fear?   Perhaps this family needs some investigation.     The boy grew physically ill, not once but twice, when asked directly why he did what he did....good acting?   Or...true, honest fear, to the point of causing nausea.

The Brady Bunch, this is not.

I agree, the parents need to be presented with a bill for manpower and time spent on this folly.  I also think someone needs to take a serious look at those kids and their home life.

Lisa

FR, after read thru

Ewwww, ick.

I just had a hideous flash (been followin' y'all's convo, here, & CNN's coverage online):

Munchausen syndrome by proxy

Not saying this case is, or is not, Munchausen specifically. It's just heavily reminiscent.

Oh, & yeah, that was some weird family dynamics on display on that couch. Children are, in many respects, emotional sponges. & those boys were crackling with suppressed stuff. Fascinating.

Lockit -> RE: Anybody Else Watching This? (10/16/2009 10:03:26 AM)

I think it was the editor for a Fort Collins news paper, was on another show last night and said that Falcon was in the attic playing... doesn't sound too scared to me... eating snacks.... Oh wait a minute... who keeps snacks in their attic? She had interviewed them earlier in the day. She didn't think that odd. No one else did?

Personally I wanted to know how the kid got up there into that attic. They showed it somewhere yesterday. I would have a hard time getting up there and it would take a very long and most likely, heavy ladder. Now unless the kid is what my grandsons admire so well.. a super hero... I doubt he could do it.. but they are scientist.

Fox is going to interview the sherrif at one thirty today. Could be interesting. lol Besides the money it cost... people all over the world were watching this. Many were sobbing, worried and praying in parental fear we all have. If they don't get a jail cell... maybe a hut in Africa to hide out?

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: Anybody Else Watching This? (10/16/2009 1:56:09 PM)

Anybody heard an update? I have a very strong feeling something weird is going on here. Something is very wrong with that family.

mnottertail -> RE: Anybody Else Watching This? (10/16/2009 1:59:33 PM)

did they find JonBenet?

Why should the kid get beat?

Okay, so, how many others saw the video of the balloon back on the gound, and had the same thought: there's no way a balloon that size could have lofted a kid. Ever!

A couple seasons back on Mythbusters, they did an experiment, testing the old movie gag of a balloon salesman handing a cluster of his wares to a little kid, who them goes floating off, usually to comic effect. Yet, when they tried it, they found that the sheer volume of heleium needed to lift a 5 year old girl would fill a frickin' 747 hanger! Yet, when the Ft. Collins police, EMTs and TV news crews came up to the "saucer" it wasn't much larger than one of their vans!  (Hard to tell the actual size while in flight, since there was nothing to compare it to, really.)

The point is: THE DAD HAD TO KNOW THERE WAS NO WAY HIS KID COULD HAVE BEEN IN IT.  That balloon might have lifted a cat... maybe a small purse dog... but I've been pushing the figures around in my head, and that volume of He wouldn't lift more than 25 pounds, tops... (and then you have to suptract the weight of the box and envelope.)

Now we find out that 911 was actually the Dad's third call that day... the first was to the FAA, and the second was to a local News station who had a chopper.... THEN he called 911 to get the rescue effort going...  (aparently, after about 20 minutes.)

This was a total hoax. They should have to pay back every penny of this "rescue" effort that the father KNEW wasn't a rescue at all. Let's hope to God no one pays him for movie rights, or gives him a movie deal on this bullshit.

My first thought when i saw the balloon on the ground was, "how did a child that small crawl onto that thing by itself?" I assumed it was a toddler or even an infant. Then when they said it was a 6-year old, I knew somebody had something wrong somewhere.

You're kidding. Is this really true? I've got to do some googling...
