So does having a detailed profile she can peruse. We want to know who is writing to us - what makes him tick.

That's why a well-written, grammatically correct letter seems to elicit response at least some of the time.

Indeed. As do tasteful screen names. But perhaps you are into art, and you meant for your screen name to be Kunstboy?

Jou make me laugh, again, V, Jou a funny lady.

Yes, some of us are a little smarter than average.  Our profile specifically asks that anyone wishing to be considered by her/us include a list in their email.  Number of emails that have included it: 0.  Granted, we should probably change it because it asks for kinks in the first email.  But, kind of a mute point.  No one can seem to take their eyes off her picture long enough to read anyway.

Actually, I picked the name out of frustration, having selected several names previously that were rejected by the system. Almost as an afterthought, I slapped down Kuntboy, and good ol' CM said it was fine. So, here I am.

when i message someone i say something like "hello how are you?" and not include a list of what i like and dislike. try to get to know people as people first rather than a means to explore the lifestyle

What I have found:

The fact is, most female Dommes are overwhelmed with subs. I know this, my fellow subs know this, and She is exquisitely aware of this. So standing apart from the others is daunting. It goes beyond good grammar because a lot of guys have that. I haven't found the perfect mix yet, but I suspect that it's something which connects to a Domme on a non-verbal level. All a sub can hope for is a glimmer of interest. From there, it's up to him to work it into a meeting with Her. One more thing I discovered: don't tell the Domme when you first contact her what your particular interests (fetishes) are, or else she will think you are asking to "contract" with her for a particular service. Dommes like to feel in control, and this limits their control.

Keep it fairly short. Tell her what about her profile appealed to you. Sadly, there is a lot to be said for the attraction factor. Meaning, if she isn't attracted to you, she won't respond. Keep that in mind because I sincerely don't think it matters how much you put, because if they don't like the look of you then you won't get a response! You could write the perfect intro, have the same interests, think you would get on great but still won't make a difference if they don't think you look good enough.

PolyVinyl -> RE: Opening a conversation with a Mistress... (12/23/2009 3:22:27 PM)

Well, I'll be honest: I hadn't expected so many good responses (much less good and funny ones)...and in hindsight it's failry obvious that this question's been asked a bunch before.

In the time since I wrote this, I think I grew up a little and have gotten a bit better at writing letters to Dommes I'm interested in...but the personal changes have played a big part too. I've realized that making myself a little bit mysterious, but remaining obviously open to submission is a great way to make a Domme interested... lately I've completely left out the list of stuff that I "like"...and simply said "I'd like to make you smile", which is completely true, and...it can be interpreted in a bunch of ways I think.

I hope this thread helps other people out too, it definitely pushed my writing skills a bunch.

Thank you, all of you :)
