Contrariness comes naturally to one who relishes playing the devil's advocate, which I do. Good synonyms for contrary (depeding on which definition you choose): polar, diametrical, divergent, independent, counterpoint, perverse, contumacious, noncomformist...yes, I looked it up and picked the few that suited me. I'd do the same with supporting arguments for any premise I put forward. As you are free to cite your strongest supporting sources.
When I reverse directions and hover as a guardian angel, there are different, yet related words...counterpart, complemtary, correspondent, mate, accompaniment, opposite number, confidant. To me, a Dom is all of these things, a friend, a lover, and more. Someone who is honest with you when you don't want it but need it, who fulfills you before you felt the desire. I strive; as Michael Valentine Smith said "I am but an egg." [Stranger In a Strange Land, Robert Heinlein]
My first post, a reply to another introduction here, got moved to another discussion forum. General BDSM Discussion - Being called slut
Having spent the day looking around and fleshing out my profile, I'll probably end up posting there and in Creative Writings, although I tend to be rather reserved. Actually, I think this is changing, since I've already posted my first [really] short fiction piece - three posts in one month, never mind a day, used to be a lot for me... and hey, isn't this, the introduction, supposed to come first?

I have roughly equal experience in poly- and D/s relationships, and since my last and best sub, who lived with me in both, has just moved on, I find I have time on my hands and both the experience and desire to contribute to this community. Probably the main reason behind my uncharacteristicly prolific postings. No, I'll never be a thread-jerker. But I'm looking forward to chiming in.

I already feel welcome. Thank you.

The aforementioned flash fiction piece: Vessel of Abandon

Hmm, seems I was too erudite and not earthy enough in my introduction, I guess. 'Twas the mood I was in that afternoon. I like words, and like to play with them like building blocks.

I've been hopping around the boards, and like what I've read. I offer my sincere appreciation for all the opinions and knowledge I've come across so far, not to mention expressions of feeling, which I always relish.

In my introduction above, I was trying to throw out some ideas (ok, just loosely connected words) that came to mind lately about both D/s relationships and becoming actively involved in forum discussions.
The way I see a Dom and sub as yin and yang, both opposite and complementary elements, with infinite variety in how two people might match up, just as in any 'normal' relationship. And how friends on a message board can discuss, argue, support each other or agree to disagree on topics near and dear to them.

A little more about myself: my poly-experience is broad, not deep - many brief, frequently shallow (with exceptions!) but mostly satisfying experiences during a long committed relationship. My D/s experience is the other way around: deep immersion with several people at different and for briefer times, didn't branch out to lots of activities, very emotionally intensive and fulfilling.

I miss Portland, OR, where I spent 7 wonderfully free and fun years, though I grew up here in CT. It was a big city with a small town feel. Anyone here from around there? The attitudes of people on the East and West Coast are like night and day.

I go to local fetish club nights, in New Haven and Hartford, but haven't been to a munch since moving back. I know of one, just, haven't made it yet.

I grit my teeth everytime I drive into New York, and don't stop until I leave, so it's been awhile. I should probably try taking the train in, or head to Boston instead.
