Alphascendant -> Stuttering (10/18/2009 11:01:46 PM)

I just turned 49 a couple of months ago, and have not ever had a problem with it. It's not a normal stutter, but the past weeks, on a regular basis, I'll begin to say something and the words won't come out right. It's not like a stutter on a single consonant, but more like getting three words out and getting stuck, then repeating those three words a few times until the entire phrase comes out. I have always been a confident speaker, yet now it seems as if something is wrong? Stress? Not any more than usual...

Get thee to a doctor to rule out something neurological.

believe it or not, it could be the result of a mini stroke.

Take the stuttering as the warning it is. See your doctor now and tell him of the issues. It can save you from serious medical issues in the future.

I concur.

Any form of stuttering is an indication of a glitch in the speech center in our brain. If you have no past history of this speech impediment, then I'd be concerned and talk to your doctor and/or specialist.

Being born with a speech impediment is another critter all together. We who suffer from this affliction had to learn coping skills to deal with a stutter. In our case, the area of the brain which controls our speech isn't where it is supposed to be. For us, speech therapy helps and we re able to continue as normal as we possibly can.

Thank goodness, for a moment I thought something might be wrong with me...... Ironically enough, the band I'm in has started playing different tunes.
