Oh god I don't think I'd be able to get any work done my stomache would be like fooooooooooooooooooood foooooooooooooooooood and my nose would keep telling my stomach there was good smells out there go see go see!

It was quite a challenge, but the boss threatened to put an end to the crock parties if we fell behind. Still, it was a very near thing between the hot wings, sweet and sour meatballs, BBQ pork and other yummy stuff! [:D]

You didn't see the picture of me sucking on an ice penis then hehehe. Well, ok a picture doesn't show action, that blow job was quite the exercise lol, up and down up and down up and down, and I was  squatting,   If we had the extra money for the ice mold I wanted to do amateur porn with it, lol. I'd be busy making movies of me blowing the ice and we'd make special effects, like coloring the ice lol. But I don't know if you could call that amateur porn.

There's also pictures of me outside, they're just pushed really far back, since the new ones and pics of our stuffed animals were  put first:)

and I'm not a couch potato I am a computer potato* laughs good naturedly*  Seriously I am addicted to my pc.

Daddy doesn't want to cook with me, I  am always asking him and he says no,  I guess it's understandable since he spends a large portion of his job prepping food and dealing with food and then you don't wanna come home and prep and cook food here too, plus he thinks since it's not his kitchen he shouldn't be using it and I tell him that's silly because we're always welcome to be in the kitchen as long as we clean it up for the next user, but I admit I am a little frustrated because I'd like the help and support and yeah the company of someone else in the kitchen with me. This is always an on going conversation, but maybe I'll win him over, and if not I'll be in the kitchen by myself hehe.

If you're "afraid" of cutting up a chicken, see my crock-pot chicken soup recipe on yummiest-meal-on-a-budget string.  EASY-to-follow, easy-to-learn.  Sometimes we here assume some basic skills that you might not have.

Basically, you cook chicken until meat is off bones, and then just remove bones.  You can do that, package chicken meat in a couple of (maybe you'll need 3) one-quart freezer bags and have it ready to go at anytime.  Stock is freezable and can be added as flavor/liquid to just about anything.  Use it to cook your brown rice.

OP: It would be great to see your current pic replaced by a non-couch potato one.  How 'bout a pic of you both in the kitchen trying some of these ideas?  Just sayin'

The Amish say: "Kissin' don't last, cookin' do" I've never believed that exactly, but cooking is a great hobby to share with your loved one.  Slaves can be preps, masters can be chefs.  At least that's how it works around here.  Suggestions are listened to, but final decision is by Master.  Oh, gee... that sounds familair and reminds me of WIITWD, doesn't it?  Example: Boy, when that has been in for 20 minutes, you are to rotate the pan 180 degrees, turn down the heat to 275 and take it out after an additional 15 minutes.  Never failed me yet!  See, clear instructions and given responsiblity for follow-thru.

yeah the threat of it not being there any more does do wonders if you like the tradition:)

Would he at least help long enough to get you started? If you put it to him like, "Teach me the basics, and then I can do it myself", he might be more inclined. [;)]

Truth to tell, he liked it, too (he was an Officer's Cook in the Navy, and usually had a big roast in the oven to go with the other stuff). It was just UnBossly not to tell us that he'd stop the parties if we slacked off all morning. Probably would have worked better if the Director (his boss) wasn't usually first in line for the buffet [:D]

When I was trying to raise kids on a budget several years ago, I ate alot of Peanut Butter, Marshmallow Fluff and Jelly sandwiches. It has alot of protein.

This reminded me of something. It's not money-saving, but it sure is labor-saving....

Get some sectioned plates. Remember the old TV-Dinners? That's what I mean by "sectioned". They come in various materials. You want something either oven-safe or microwave-safe. Costs vary, but it's only a one-time expense. Then, whenever you have leftovers after a meal, instead of freezing everything separately, portion the leftovers out into the sectioned plates, cover them with saran wrap, and freeze'em.

Then, when you're ready, all you have to do is just remove the wrap, heat and eat -- good ol' home cookin' with no pots and pans to clean up. After I hit on this one, I started making huge meals whenever I cooked just so I'd have plenty of leftovers to make some heat-and-eat dinners for other days.

I guess we're all civilized... nobody's mentioning foraging for veggies.  Queen Anne's lace (wild carrot) and dandelions, among others, have edible if strong tasting greens.

Next year I'm going to get some wild greens...

Yeah he'd maybe be willing to do that, or in the past he's sat in the livingroom, and if I needed him I could call him in, but he was able to do something interesting other than just being in the kitchen the whole time on the chance I needed him.

I remember the huge thick plastic plates for kids like that, and hungry man tv dinners come sectioned off too, so year I remember those, and if they were microwave safe that'd be so handy.

What are your tips on getting enough food for almost a month?

i am sure i am not the only one that has heard you say how frequently you eat out in restaurants or buy fast foods.
Perhaps if you put that money toward a grocery bill you will find you have a much larger budget?

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Healthy grocery shopping on a budget of 100 dollars a month (10/25/2009 11:16:49 AM)

We already cut out almost all eating out a long time ago, We only eat out like once every 3 months now, not even that.  It does help in over all budgeting.

Just read about this service that offers 21-25lbs of food for $30. Not sure how far they reach in California or if it's done in other locations:

wow that is awesome concept, i wonder if you can buy anonymously for people who are in need.  Its amazing that there are no restrictions etc of who can participate.  What great Christmas gifts for families in need.

Rule -> RE: Healthy grocery shopping on a budget of 100 dollars a month (10/25/2009 12:39:08 PM)

I have no idea how much I spend on food.

Bare necessities are three litres of low fat yoghurt and a couple of vitamin C tablets. That is say 50 euro's per month.

Often I buy and eat a box of cookies also every day. So add another thirty euro's.

Once a month I eat take away from the Toko. 7,50 plus say four euro's for drink or something else.

Then there are some additional costs, like next Saturday I will attend the autumn meeting of a society which is followed by a dinner - another twenty euro once every six months, so add another four euro.

Then I give my sister once or twice a year fifty euro as she cooks for me when she hosts me. So say another four euro.

That makes in total on average about 99,50 euro's per month for food.

Daddy is pyched because we found a sam's club, thatI agree is close enough to not be an absurd distance away for grocery shopping, because it's  in a parking lot with Michaels craft store and a Wal*mart, and we're down there once a month almost anyway, and with school I am in the area once a week.  they had a case of water 30 of them for the same amount a 24 pack cost, the brand I like to, and they had huge amounts of fresh produce, for example a7 pack of bellpeppers for 6 bucks , when it's 20 dollars almost at raleys for those items, and for three dollars you can get a thing of huge grapes, and well lots of other stuff for cheap too.

LeMis -> RE: Healthy grocery shopping on a budget of 100 dollars a month (10/25/2009 2:56:35 PM)

We shop at SAM's once every month or two.
We buy mostly bulk items AND items that are less expensive in comparison at other stores.
I really thought that the Brita water filtration system was an excellent idea rather than buying bottled water (just my opinion though), I think someone once told me that grapes have tons of sugar in them, does that affect diabetics? I'm not diabetic so I don't know.
Just a couple of thoughts I was pondering.
Glad you seem so happy about finding a SAM's close by.

I don't think seven bell peppers for $6 is a good use of your money, even if they are cheaper there than at the grocery store.

For that same $6 you could get over six pounds of pasta, over 20 pounds of potatoes, 3 large bags of salad (at the warehouse store, not at your grocery store), three pounds of hamburger meat, etc. I don't mean ALL of those items, but any one of those items.

Also, and not to sound mean, when you do make a recipe that is meant to be for more than one meal, at serving time, place each portion on the person's plate, and immediately put the "leftovers" in a container and freeze or refrigerate it. This will help keep you going back for seconds or thirds, thus ensuring that you do have enough for a second or third meal.
