I just spent way too much time following this string (original joke is funny) but I had to follow it through because Saratov kept throwing in good humor. I hope others appreciate THAT. It took me a minute to get ownedgurlie's knockknock joke (probably because I'm mostly hick) but when I did I was laughing out loud (even though I may represent who the joke is making fun of). Moloch, no matter what your punch line may be, it probably needs accompanying animation. I would like to see a new string now on truesub and her body parts abilities.

Okay. . . I get the parody of "American Pie"

But, I am unsure if the RPG refers to a Rocket Propelled Grenade or a Role Playing Game.

Both are funny. . . but for different reasons. And both could be useful in a terrorist camp.

Damn terrrorists playing AD&D. . . only the satanists are allowed to play that.

Best,

Cmdr. Dodge: Alright, ladies and gentlemen. We have fulfilled every requirement of this mission except one — Norfolk. Presently, there are several ships positioned outside the harbor to intercept us. To get in, we're gonna have to use a tactic that is somewhat bizarre and extremely risky. If any of you feel it's not worth it, please let me know now.

Sylvesterson: Uh, actually, sir, I think we prefer to go with the bizarre and risky. It worked for us so far.

I agree with some, that the orignal joke was funny. Can you find insult if you pick it apart and analyze sure. But I believe that's true with anything.

The rest of you....it's just pathetic. You guys will look any and everywhere to get your whine and gripe on. You look for insult to complain and rant about around every corner.

Someone mentioned having respect for some on these boards. There are a few that spend their time doing something other than looking to whine, and ride the estragen ocean. They know who they are. So do the whiners and cryers. If you find insult to this particular post.... you might want to think about why that might be....hmmmmm..?

There are worthwhile while posts, and threads on here...that keep me here. There are many that simply leave me shaking my head are ...almost... feeling sorry for some.

Gee... now I feel included *smiles*

Thanks for listening/reading my rant. And those who reply.

Mostly, I feel this way. You can read everything on here. Some stuff you may not agree with, some may even insult you. But is it really a cause....everytime.... to launch a crusade of outrage, and all the rest?

If you actually looked in a dictionary SirKenin you would see that a homophobe is someone who suffers from an extreme and irrational aversion to homosexuality and homosexuals, your error in defining the word and the rather bizarre and offensive attack upon me that followed it puts me in mind of the old adage “say nothing and let everyone think you are stupid rather than open your mouth and prove it. Since you did not post the joke and I am assuming you are not the comic genius that came up with it in the first place then I was in no way calling you a homophobe even though your rather bizarre and unnecessary attempt at insulting me makes you look as though you are one. Unfortunately as per the request in your post I will not be attempting to make up a joke about you since your message clearly proves beyond any doubt that you are one.

My response to this thread was intended to be a mild rebuttal to the person who posted it, plenty of you seam very upfront when it comes to defending someone’s right to say something that you see as being mildly amusing though I am quite bewildered by the fact that many of the same people don’t afford me the same rights when I state that I find the subject matter of the joke extremely offensive. Telling me I have no sense of humour is not going to change the issue, it is not the joke that I object to it is the grossly offensive sentiment that it is based around that I object to.

Trying to use the right of free speech to defend a bigoted viewpoint is the last and only defence of a moron, if someone is so weak minded they are incapable of constructing any real justification for their views or actions other than resorting to saying they have the right to say them then they really should reconsider their viewpoint.

Children come up with better rebuttals than this.

There is no justification for your actions. You came marching in here all high and mighty on yourself, stating how offended you were and calling people names for laughing at the joke. It is like you expected people to just drop everything because you were not amused. Blow it out your ear. If you do not like it, save your comments and immature (not to mention completely uncalled for and misdirected) name calling for someone that cares and find some other thread to dump your blather. It is just a joke. Either grow some skin or maybe the internet is not the place for you.

Sheesh.

yes the joke was slightly amusing, but it also offensive. and while people are saying "ït's just a joke", its the acceptance of jokes like that that lead to the perpetuation of intolerance and stereotyping of any minority group, not just gay people. hate grows like salt crystals, one tiny grain of poking fun at someone "different" can lead to sanctioned violence, murder, and other horrendous things. it has nothing to do with being politically correct, and not offending someone, but more with upholding the right to life, liberty, and security of person that every person (canadian anyways) is entitled to.

Wait, wait, wait, wait one second here... A joke can lead to sanctioned violence and murder? Telling a joke like this is perpetuating intolerance? Just how does a joke do this? Inquiring minds want to know.

like i said, it grows like the salt crystals we used to make back in grade 1 science. what is just a joke now builds a basis for desensitization to stereotypes and discriminating behaviour, creating unconscious negative attitudes, which, when left unchecked, are the root cause of all the violence in the world today. as a different, but very similar example, take an ad for clothing or perfume depicting a naked, dead looking woman. many may say oh it's just an ad, it doesn;t MEAN anything, but it does. it signifies that its ok to objectify the death of women, which puts that seed into the inconscious that women are inferior. this is the same as laughing at discriminatory jokes, signifying that it is ok to discriminate against these people, becuase they are somehow inferior. im not saying that people think this way, that by laughing, they actually think "öh, i can laugh, this person isn't important", its subconscious. and society has a collective unconscious which allows discrimination and hate to exist, despite what we might do or say on a conscious level.

The complaining about the complaining outnumbers the complaining about the joke by an order of 10:1. Christ, what an idiotic thread. OP, next time you post a joke, make it one you didn't get from the retard's school yard, and maybe a debacle such as this can be avoided.

I really don't think that jokes are the bugaboo some do.....it takes more than that to grow hate. Adults speaking to children in a serious way about how ______ are useless and despicable. As for the jokes, you have to look at the person telling them, and their intent.

Now........if you canadians don't stop causing trouble, we aren't going to let you be our 51st state.

There was this man who walked into a bar and says to the bartender 10 shots of whiskey.

The bartender asks, "What's the matter?"

The man says, "I found out my brother is gay and marrying my best friend."

The next day the same man comes in and orders 12 shots of whiskey.

The bartenders asks, "What's wrong this time?"

The man says, "I found out that my son is gay."

The next day the same man comes in the bar and orders 15 shots of whiskey.

Then the bartender asks, "Doesn't anyone in your family like women?"

The man looks up and says, "Apprently my wife does."

While we are on the subject of "Blaming Canada", did you hear the news that Isaac Hayes will no longer be lending his voice to South Park? Why? The racial humor? NO! The gay bashing? NO! Per Matt Stone: "
quote:

This has nothing to do with intolerance and bigotry and everything to do with the fact that Isaac Hayes is a Scientologist and that we recently featured Scientology in an episode of 'South Park.' In ten years and over 150 episodes of 'South Park,' Isaac never had a problem with the show making fun of Christians, Muslims, Mormons and Jews. He got a sudden case of religious sensitivity when it was his religion featured on the show. To bring the civil rights struggle into this is just a non-sequiter. Of course we will release Isaac from his contract and we wish him well. Source: South Park

I guess we all have our hot button issues. Either that or he really wanted a ride on John Travolta's jet.
