SUBJECT : Bounce This Along

What other types of Remedies do You know of?

My mail carrier told me that the US Postal service sent out a message to all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to keep yellow-jackets away.

Use them all the time when playing baseball and soccer. Use it when working outside. It really works. The yellow jackets just veer around you.

1. All this time you've just been putting Bounce in the dryer! It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.

2. Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.

3. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.

4. It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.

5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.

6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.

7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.

8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce
in a drawer or hang in the closet.

9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.

10. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet
of Bounce before beginning to sew.

11. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.

12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.

13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan.

14. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.

15. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the loose hairs.

16. Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.

17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.

18. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.

19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.

20. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.

21. Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and
Storing them. It will keep them smelling fresh.

Most of that stuff is either false, blatantly obvious, or can be done much better with another product..

Interestingly enough you can view it 1290 times on the internet though. [8D]

Rubbing a bounce sheet lightly over your hair if it gets all staticy and fly-away smooths it right down. I've been doing it for years.

IronBear -> RE: Bounce this along. (3/9/2006 7:43:33 PM)

Ok I'm elected to ask the dumb question..... WTF is Bounce????

The ball bounces, The dog bounces onto the bed and the cat bounces on me... Are these things related?

windchymes -> RE: Bounce this along. (3/10/2006 6:55:34 AM)

It's an American product.....they're thick, filmy squares of some substance that also contain fabric softener. You pull one or two out of the box they come in and throw them in the dryer when you're drying your clothes after laundering. They make them smell really good, soften them up, and take away static cling. "Bounce" is just the trade name. You probably have something similar down there going by another name? [:)]

ROFL

I have not completed the thread bear, but I assume by now someone has answered your question...although you did clear up a dunny for me, and why one should ALWAYS secure the back door before using one!

Fabric softener info from the EPA - Compiled by Julia Kendall; distributed by Environmental Health Network
Symptoms of exposure are taken from industry-generated Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Chemicals Found in Fabric Softeners/Dryer Sheets
Alpha-Terpineol - Causes CNS (central nervous system) disorders... "highly irritating to mucous membranes" ."Aspiration into the lungs can produce pneumonitis or even fatal edema." Can also cause "excitement, ataxia (loss of muscular coordination), hypothermia, CNS and respiratory depression, and headache." "Prevent repeated or prolonged skin contact."
Benzyl Acetate - Carcinogenic (linked to pancreatic cancer). "From vapors irritating to eyes and respiratory passages, exciting cough." "In mice: hyperanemia of the lungs." "Can be absorbed through the skin causing systemic effects." "Do not flush to sewer."
Benzyl Alcohol - Causes CNS disorders... "irritating to the upper respiratory tract" .."headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drop in blood pressure, CNS depression, and death in severe cases due to respiratory failure."
Camphor - Causes CNS disorders. On EPA's Hazardous Waste list. Symptoms: "local irritant and CNS stimulant" ..."readily absorbed through body tissues" .."irritation of eyes, nose, and throat" ..."dizziness, confusion, nausea, twitching muscles and convulsions". "Avoid inhalation of vapors. "
Chloroform - Neurotoxic. Anesthetic. Carcinogenic. on EPA's Hazardous Waste list. "Avoid contact with eyes, skin, clothing. Do not breathe vapors ... Inhalation of vapors may cause headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, irritation of respiratory tract and loss of consciousness." "Inhalation can be fatal." "Chronic effects of overexposure may include kidney and/or liver damage." "Medical conditions generally aggravated by exposure: kidney disorders, liver disorders, heart disorders, skin disorders." "Conditions to avoid: Heat..." Listed on California's Proposition 65.
Ethyl Acetate - Narcotic. On EPA's Hazardous Waste list. "...Irritating to the eyes and respiratory tract" ..."may cause headache and narcosis (stupor)" ..."may cause anemia with leukocytosis and damage to liver and kidneys". "Wash thoroughly after handling."
Limonene - Carcinogenic. "Prevent its contact with skin or eyes because it is an irritant and sensitizer." "Always wash thoroughly after using this material and before eating, drinking ... applying cosmetics. Do not inhale limonene vapor."
Linalool - Narcotic. Causes CNS disorders. ..."respiratory disturbances" ..."Attracts bees." "In animal tests: ataxic gait, reduced spontaneous motor activity and depression ... depressed heart activity ... development of respiratory disturbances leading to death."
Pentane - "Danger - Harmful if inhaled ... Avoid breathing vapor." "Inhalation of vapors may cause headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, irritation of respiratory tract and loss of consciousness. Repeated inhalation of vapors may cause CNS depression. Contact can cause eye irritation. Prolonged exposure may cause dermatitis (skin rash)."
CNS = Central Nervous System
Your brain and spine. CNS disorders include: Alzheimer's Disease, Attention Deficit Disorder, dementia, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, Seizures, Strokes, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
CNS exposure symptoms include: aphasia, blurred vision, disorientation, dizziness, headaches, hunger, memory loss, numbness in face, pain in neck and spine.
So it may make sense to simply avoid their use for any reason, including as a fabric softener. This is just another example of "Better Living Through Chemistry." No wonder the sheets can be used to keep flies, mice and mosquitoes away!

MHOO314 -> RE: Bounce this along. (3/19/2006 7:51:10 AM)

Well, I would have not believed it, but last night during a family dinner, I spilled an entire glass of red wine across a pale grey carpet--I never have club soda-but did last night and proceeded to use it to clean up the stain--well it does work, this morning you cannot see a bit of ugly residue! I'm sold!

Thank You for the tip - excellent to know.

If, for some reason you end up with wax spilt on your carpet, and there are so many innocuous reasons you may have this, like you didn't tie him down tight enough, Place an unwaxed brown paper bag onto the carpet, and Iron over the wax on a medium setting. The paper will draw almost all the wax out. repeat a few times for perfect results

If you end up with blood splattered onto light coloured clothing, leave the affected area soaking in milk before washing. Because milk and blood have similar solutes, it will take the stain out.

ArmorAll is an excelent PVC, rubber, and leather polish, and costs a fraction of what a fetish shop will charge for pervoshine.

A bucket full of half strength bottle sterilising solution, weighted down with non frozen cooler blocks is an excellent addition to an orgy, allowing players to keep toys clean between partners. the blocks also help prevent some poor sod kicking it over.

any others?
