spikes pulling through leather

Anyone have an idea on how to prevent spikes from pulling through leather? Also, aneyone know if they make oversized bases for snaps, rivets and studs for the same reason as above?

you can get spikes with chicago screw type fastenings. Much more robust. You could also try thin stainless or aluminium washers. There are also rivets with larger heads. and "Double Cap" rivets (Finished on both sides) are less likely to pull through.
