Melatonin.   Works every time and gives amazingly vivid dreams.

Try grapes...milk..exercise...beer...sex.....going to sleep when your body ques you...Tylenol pm

I've used that to get a schedule going ..I don't suggest it for long periods. I also find that if I take 1 I sleep longer than if I take 2. Go figure. I'm not sure how severe each person is but it's worth a shot.

Try some smooth jazz. That kenny g shit puts me out like a light (and that is NOT a compliment). Or you could try watching the golf channel.

I listen to smooth jazz or uptempo jazz every day at work.  It doesn't put me to sleep at all.  Just makes me feel good.

I posted this elsewhere last night, but I will put it in here as well.

A couple thoughts from someone with insomnia.

Do NOT have caffine after 2pm.  If you are used to having it later, you probably will need to scheduale a snack for about 4pm.  A medium baked potato is good for this (baring any dieting things that you are doing.)

Make sure that your evening meal is light.  Nothing too heavy on your stomach.

The hour before bedtime needs to be computer free.  Computer screens stimulate people.

Make sure your bed is ONLY used for sleeping.  No TV.

If you do not fall asleep with in 30 minutes of laying down, get up and go read on the couch or watch a bit of TV until you feel tired and THEN go back to bed.  Do NOT do any cleaning, hobby projects, or the like.  LEAVE THE PUTER ALONE.

Make sure you have some bedtime rituals.  This can be a cup of herbal tea, glass of milk, a nightcap, put your jammies on (if they are not already), brush your teeth, and go to bed.

Keep a pen and pad by your bed.  If you are laying awake worrying about this or that or what you have to do the next day, week, month, WRITE THEM DOWN.  This will help calm your mind for sleep.

Just a few thoughts and suggestions.

Have you ever tried magnesium? Works like a charm for me, plus it's very good for you. Just don't take too much...

geoff, that sounds like putting yourself smack in temptation's way, going to a bar!  And that young lady - she's gonna make you comfortable in that kinda environment.

Hold up here man. Im a musician by trade. I HAVE to be ok preforming in bars. What am I going to do, quit making music? Also, you cant exactly tell me theres other places I can play. So yes, Im tempting myself. I have to know I can fight the urge when its right in my face.

Been there, done that.  A LOT!!!  I discovered that if I went 2 days without sleep, I would generally sleep the 3rd.  I also discovered that going shopping on no sleep was a very very bad idea.  I would find all sorts of things that I NEEDED.  Then after getting some sleep, I would find these things & wonder why the hell I thought I really needed those things.
