Hello folks. What do we know about the safety of doing percussion play with somebody who already has blatant bruising, cane lines, etc.? (I'm not talking about broken skin.)

Would you beat somebody who had been beaten 1 or 2 days ago? Why or why not?

Thanks, Fiddlegirl

I don't know the term "percussion play" but otherwise my answer is "yes." Have done it, would do it, never known of a problem. But people are very different in terms of how they heal so you need to be aware of that.

A bruise is not a bruise until its purple, yellow, and a little flesh-tone green...

Bruising is a sign of damage. When there is acute bruising the area should be left alone to heal. Heck there are tons of spots on the body for impact play, Id recommend choosing a different spot.

As easily as I do bruise... it's best to leave mine alone. But in doing that.. it's not days.. it's actually weeks before that area can be played upon. Specially around the breast. The others are not as bad really. Even though sometimes an accidental tap on a bruise already there... <smiles>

mine last at least a week, also. He rarely pounds the same spot repeatedly but it depends how bruised it is.

Oddly, any time he uses me intensely, i end up with perfectly round little circles (purple) on the insides of my upper arms. Must be a pressure thing...

I keep playing until there's broken skin.

I used to play field hockey in secondary school and would often get bruises on my bruises. Never had a problem, so I don't mind dishing it out on people who let me.:)

Broken skin is different than deep bruises. my skin might break with barely a bruise, while i might bruise deeply and painfully with my skin intact. Depends on the implement used.

I've learned that every person's skin is different. Unless I know how that person's previous bruises/skin breaks can potentially react, from experience in beating them before, or I personally inflicted the previous stuff, I won't go there.

i would gather that it would be the severity of the play and the persons healing ability as each person is different.

i have played many times still with bruises and not gotten hurt

i have played one time with bruises and got hurt badly enough to keep me out of commission for a long time i guess a lot of things go into play here...health, time of the month, etc etc. when in doubt don't damage the property else it wont be able to be used and a broken toy is no fun to play with so i would personally error on the side of caution...

since i do alot of edge play this is seemingly the antithisis of what one might expect but the reason i can engage in it is because i am so cautious and do a lot of pre preperation so i dont get hurt or hurt others.

be safe and smile
