Has anyone been branded? How were you branded? How did you take care of the wound afterwards? Is it nicely healed, clear and visible? What did your Dom/me use to brand you?

Just a few questions is all. Master is thinking of branding me at some stage and I would like some advice and what others have done about it.
Thanks.

this makes me really really squeamish. Yes, I have been branded, and by  a professional.  It is not an easy thing to do, and very easy for it to be dangerous.  I would never ever condone someone without proper training, time spent watching other professionals do it, studying, etc come near me with something like that.   Please please please be careful.

i am branded but it was with a thick wire clothes hanger in boilled watter it can fade after about a month. it was easy to care for as it was only a surface burn. i also have a cutting scar made with a sterile scaple in the same pattern on my chest. it needed to be kept clean and have antibiotic cream on it to prevent infection. another way is to use bovie electro cautery pens to make a small burn to create the mark. there are many ways to be marked be sure to reaserch them all and find a experinced person to do it..

I have never been branded, but the search feature is a wonderful tool. There are many posts regarding branding on the Ask a Submissive board.

My Mistress branded my slave initials across my lower abdomen by using cigars. The aftercare involved bursting the blisters so as to release any source of infection and then bathing in pure alcohol. This had the added benefit of causing further pain while cleansing the burn site at the same time. Frequent bathing with anti bacterial soap and alchohol resulted in no infection and rapid heaing.

While I've not been branded, I know of someone who was. It was done by a professional. She and her Master both said that if they were to do any kind of marking again they would do the tattoo route, as the brand tended to fade.

Personally, I would rather do a tattoo, it is much less painful (according to her), much easier to care for and more permanent. But to each his/her own.

Breaking a burn blister allows for a GREATER chance of infection, not less.

I have not been branded nor have I branded anyone. However, I would highly recommend that like any other form of body modification (piercing, tattooing, surgical implants, etc.), have it done by a professional or by someone who has been properly trained. Anyone with the proper training will recommend the appropriate aftercare.

My partner is a professional scarification artist and does 3 types of hot strike. All are 3rd degree burns created by red hot steel. Only a 3rd degree burn will permanently scar. Quartery pens usually create second degree burns which are painful, weep and have more chance of infection and don't tend to create permanent scarification. A 3rd degree burn is a dry burn.

A few tips would be .... Keep the brand as simple as possible. A hot strike grows at least 3 times its original width over a period of up to a year.
Don't brand areas like the belly, buttocks or inner thighs as brands in these areas tend to blow and lose all definition. Shoulders, arms, lower back is good.
When you find someone to do the branding, insist on seeing some of their work because even some professional branders are pretty awful.

Some articles related to branding can be found on this link.

Seing as though this post has reared its head again, I would like to say something else.

People always cry out, 'go to a professional' My partner is one of the people that teaches the professionals but as well as teaching someone that runs a shop, he also teaches people that come to his branding workshops. Many of those people leave with an equal amount of knowledge as the guy that goes back to his shop and puts a sign up in his window saying that he's a professional brander. Professional just means that he charges. There is no qualification for this. People often train themselves on a friend or two. If your going to have a brand, look for someone who has a good reputation. Read testimonials and get in touch with the people that have been branded by this person. DONT just take someones word for it, not even if they call themselves professionals and have some fancy looking clinic with all the mod cons and most importantly, get yourself to a workshop and get yourself informed about the benefits and the drawbacks of good and bad practice.
