JWL -> Anal health and kinkiness... (11/14/2009 2:49:38 PM)

I'm just curious; all the literature never really answer the question about how long a butt plug can be worn safely?

The other question is, and ladies I apologize about this one, but what is the average time that passes between bowel movements for women?

situation; I am introducing anal play to my partner and when I asked her the question about when the last time she had a bowel movement, she said it had been a couple of days. I know that we had been eating roughly the same diet and I've been fairly regular...

She got embarrassed and we called off the anal portion of the evening's festivities, but since I am not a health specialist, nor very experienced in anal health, other than having a healthy anus, I would like some advise please.

Some people have bowel movements every morning after their cup of coffee. Others may go several times in one day and then not again for a few days. Have her tell you next time she's totally emptied. Hormonal cycle will affect this.

No idea of a time limit for butt plugs, but since this is the first time, make it fairly short. And remember the anus will absorb the lube, so if it's been too long, it can cause small fissures or tears removing it.

You eat a similar diet, but does she drink as much liquid?
That can make a big difference.
Sometimes medications can have constipation as a side effect.

I also recommend Jack Morin's book Anal Pleasure and Health.

edit for clarity

Thinking maybe what the plug is made of would impact the duration answer (Pthalate-laden items, I would think shold be worn a lesser amount of time).

FR-

"Regular" is different for everyone, not specific to men and women. My ex husband had a bowel movement every day at like 10 in the morning, like clockwork. It actually became a joke between us (one of the few we had). Me on the other hand, if I go twice a week, that's regular.

Feces are not in the rectum, but further up. It isn't like if she hasn't gone to the bathroom and you insert a plug, you are going to push anything back up. But if she might be needing to go sometime soon, the plug can be uncomfortable and feel like it is pushing things up.

As for how long they can be safely worn.....so much depends on the person. It appears that this is a very new activity, so the answer in your case is NOT LONG. Over time, it can increase, but how much time depends on the individual.
