Ron in correct. Spanish Fly is ground up Catharides species beetles. They are fairly common in America and usually are about an inch to an inch and a quarter long and shaped like a long rectangle. They are quite lovely being iridescent. They are very lovely, and interestingly they make no attempt to hide when you find one. Generally a person doesn't find one, but rather finds several together when they are mating. They clear a small area of grass about the size of a silver dollar in fields. There is something about them, perhaps it's the boldness or the iridescent coloring that tells you: "don't touch." They are known as "blister beetles." They secrete a quite toxic substance that will raise blisters upon the skin of anyone who touches them. Every so often there are horse or cattle deaths due to a bloom of Cantharides beetles coincident with haying. The beetles get caught up in the bales and dry out, later to be eaten by cattle or horses. About 6 years ago half a million dollars worth of race horses died in one day in the South.
It is said that the Marquis de Sade accidentally poisoned a woman, having used bitter chocolate to disguise the taste. Supposedly he was sentenced to death for the murder. The cantharides substance causes severe irritation within the urinary tract. If it itches: "scratch it." But it also can destroy the kidneys and other organs. If you see it for sale it is always with some words such as spurious, indicating that it's really not cantharides.
Yohimbe has a reputation for increasing libido but I'm not sure it is proven, nor do I know about any risks. Viagra, contrary to popular belief does nothing for the libido. It causes smooth muscle relaxation aiding in increasing blood flow to the penis (or clitoris) thus assisting in erection and is only useful in a male if there is erectile insufficiency. There has been some use in females but it is not approved for this use. I tend to think that Viagra is very outdated. It is like a shotgun, and oftentimes produces nasal congestion, headache and indigestion, since it affects target receptors in these areas. Levitra is about the same. The newer Cialis has far fewer, and much less (in my opinion) adverse effects and the erectile enhancing lasts 24-36 hours versus about 3-5 hours for Viagra. Any male that has erectile issues can ask his medical practitioner for a sample, if it is not forthcoming, get another practitioner.
Viagra is not deadly, but should not be used by any person with cardiac issues. Concomitant use with nitroglycerin can cause severe and rapid blood pressure drops. I imagine that any deaths from Viagra were related to this combination.
Try using spinach... make up a nice salad, sprinkle some dried spice or herb (dill will do). Tell your partner that you paid an inordinate amount for a very expensive but safe aphrodisiac and that it takes an hour to take effect. Add a bit of wine or other alcohol to reduce inhibitions (no bondage now!) some candles and much erotic foreplay and the placebo effect alone gives you a 1:3 chance of initiating a positive response.
