DomImus -> Jack Rinella runs for IL state house (11/20/2009 3:14:34 PM)

A Kink in the Campaign  "If his challenge to Deb Mell's nominating petition succeeds, state rep candidate Joe Laiacona just might run unopposed in the Democratic primary. But can a leather master actually win in the general election?"

Hierodule -> RE: Jack Rinella runs for IL state house (11/20/2009 4:54:31 PM)

Does his district contain Lake View? If so he could win the general. If not I'm afraid who ever the GOP nom is will use his sexuality against him. I can see the attack adds now...

pictures of gimps locked up in hoods (like the one in the article) whips cracking,

And then a teary eyed toe-headed child looking at the camera and a scary voice over saying "Would you Trust Him with your Children"

Its not ok to atttack someone for being homosexual anymore. But it is okay to atack someone for being a deviant perv and I have a feeling his opponent will go that route, unfortunately.

Actually scratch that last post. Hes running as a Dem, in Chicago. 'Nuff said.

LadyPact -> RE: Jack Rinella runs for IL state house (11/21/2009 12:28:30 AM)

I'd love to see our first openly leather person in office.  I may want to move!

Llyren -> RE: Jack Rinella runs for IL state house (11/21/2009 12:46:35 PM)

If he has the Machine behind him, which is quite possible, he's a shoe-in.  Anyone who thinks the Machine died with Daley I is delusional.  We are talking about Chicago, where you vote early and often.

I think he's up against the Machine here...his opponent for the Dem primary is Richard Mell's daughter/Blagojevich's SIL.

Llyren -> RE: Jack Rinella runs for IL state house (11/21/2009 7:32:14 PM)

Then it depends on who has been more useful.  Besides, Blagoveich has zero credit now, after making Illinois a laughingstock.  Sure, we all know our politicians are all corrupt, but it's something we're not supposed to splash all over national tv.

on FR

Deborah Mell will still suffer from guilt by association. Regardless of her impeachment vote being a familial show of support; for me, it damaged her reputation and showed an inability to be unbiased. Let's face it, were she truly unbiased she would have voted to impeach along with everyone else. Her lone vote of dissent only proves her inability to be unbiased. Doesn't matter whether she's involved or not. She's going to be splattered in the run off due to her family connection.

At least with Rinella it's all out in the open already. There aren't any dirty little secrets lurking in a closet. For me, if the party is smart, they'll see Rinella as the lesser of two evils (and I hate to put it that way) in regards to backlash and scandal. Who knows what could still become fall out in regards to Mell. With Rinella they are already well aware of what they will need to counteract as far as mudslinging goes.

I'm thrilled that he's running. I would definitely throw him my vote. Perhaps society will be much more accepting of someone being open and out. After all if he's already been so honest about who and what he is, why couldn't he be looked at as a refreshing change in regard to being able to trust a candidate with being truthful. Not too likely to have happen but I can dream can't I???

Hierodule -> RE: Jack Rinella runs for IL state house (11/22/2009 3:22:36 PM)

The big news in that article is that he could very well get Mell off the ballot all together and run unopposed in the primary. As the only Dem running he will get a lot of support from the establishment. Even if he can't get Mel off the ballot, he stands a chance in winning the primary because of the Blogo fiasco. If he gets past the primary. I dare say he could be "golden." Dems have it purty much locked in this State.I checked out that district. Its the Avondale area, not Lake View. But I still feel like my original post was off base. He could win it.

Llyren -> RE: Jack Rinella runs for IL state house (11/22/2009 4:10:40 PM)

Illinois as a whole isn't Democratic. Downstate is primarily Republican, at least in the rural areas.

But I think he'll take the primary because her family connections will taint her too badly.

Hierodule -> RE: Jack Rinella runs for IL state house (11/22/2009 5:33:58 PM)

Well Dems are still the majority. Most of the people in this state live in Chicagoland

No Offense....

IL State House

Democratic  Republican
70                 48

Latest voting share 59.3% 40.7%

Hierodule -> RE: Jack Rinella runs for IL state house (11/22/2009 5:36:29 PM)

IL Senate even more so ...

Democratic Republican
37               22
Latest voting share 62.7% 37.3%

SDFemDom4cuck -> RE: Jack Rinella runs for IL state house (11/22/2009 10:05:02 PM)

Yes he very well could run unopposed. I read the article after I posted and really if it holds (which it should on the technicality itself) he would be unopposed. The question is would there be enough people voting for Mell as a write in candidate thus winning anyway if she is removed from the ballot? Is this even a possibility.

All I can say to that is "Best of LUCK Jack!"

Born and raised in IL. Still here after 33 years. I'm familiar with the absolute fiasco of Blagovich and I am fairly familiar with Jack Rinella. I've read his books, researched him as a person and volunteered for his campaign,( although I wasn't called back). I have to say that the idea of someone with an open mind and who actually tells the truth strikes me as a fresh and hopeful step forward for IL.

Good Luck Jack

Of course if he wins he won't have as much time to write his columns or his books....

domiguy -> RE: Jack Rinella runs for IL state house (1/8/2010 3:14:34 PM)

I guess there is something comforting in knowing that the guy is a complete cocksucker before he steps into office.

I am confident that the guy will be as lousy as anyone else that has sought that office.

Mark Kirk was recently accused of being gay....Anything and everything in politics to discredit an adversary is alive and well in Illinois.

ricken -> RE: Jack Rinella runs for IL state house (1/15/2010 1:36:30 PM)

Sad truth...."I am confident that the guy will be as lousy as anyone else that has sought that office."

I really don't care what this guy is into, for me the most important thing would be to get Mell out, but if I recall right, I just got a leaflet in the door about re-electing her. 40th does not include lakeview, it's pretty much Logan, Avondale, and I think West Town, I think thats a pretty heavy blue collar population, maybe not so liberal, he might not do to well there. But I would vote for him.
