slavejali, if you are part of a bigger organization, could there be rules or protocols in place that can be enforced over you...? For example, we might have some managers at work who say they don't care about the surfing, but then one of our IT guys will discover sites someone is going to and will take it to another level. At least where i work there is a big concern about viruses and worms and people going to sites that may cause liability somehow. Most "unapproved" sites are blocked, but for example, this particular forum is not blocked but an employee could sure find him/herself in hot water by our HR department if IT discovered activity here.

i am going to ask the MODS to close this thread... it got hijacked... it IS a very serious issue... nevertheless... please close it? thank Yyou...

siamsa24 -> RE: my best friend (3/12/2006 6:57:47 PM)

I said that I would leave it alone, and I agree that it may be a serious issue, but one that I, personally believe should not me an issue in the first place.

I agree that it is an uncomfortable to think that someone is looking over your shoulder at the sites that you visit and that you can have action taken against you. It is a good warning to give and something to think about when surfing at work.

I am wondering what else there is to discuss about it?

angelic -> RE: my best friend (3/12/2006 7:02:56 PM)

nothing but you siamas... [:D]

slavejali -> RE: my best friend (3/12/2006 7:14:36 PM)

ownedgirlie:

I can hear you on that.

I think the best idea would be to make sure you know the rules of itnernet usage at any place you're employed at and abide by them.

Sorry that happened to you angelic. I know what its like to have your private affairs discussed and talked about, its a horrible experience and when its at work, apart from your reputation being effected, you could also loose your job over it.

P>S> I dont get how your best friend is involved in this? Is she/he your employer?

Addition: One thing I worry about is if anything went wrong with the computer that I couldnt deal with myself and had to get a techie in...ugh

angelic -> RE: my best friend (3/12/2006 7:17:39 PM)

thank you again slavejali.. it didn't happen to me.. but one i hold in very high esteem... as i know where that persons heart lays...

IrishMist -> RE: my best friend (3/12/2006 7:21:10 PM)

I must be one of the lucky ones lol. Where I work, they could care less what sites we are on as long as we get the work done that we are supposed to be working on.

A good reason to never save personal files on a work computer. Everything on CD or a seperate hard drive.

angelic -> RE: my best friend (3/12/2006 7:24:03 PM)

slavejali... this person is my best friend... and got caught with their pants down... this person knows that... and is now worried about criminal charges... why? because this person is of the BDSM persuasion..... had this person been going to unmentionable sites... that's one thing.. they were not... however that person was using 'work' equipment, that Mmany here do (Or Yyou Aall are unemployed) LOL... this was merely a warning to Oothers.. be careful!!!

soulie -> RE: my best friend (3/12/2006 8:01:11 PM)

in response to the thread, even a company laptop that is used during off hours, the hard drive can be checked, and Yyou still wind up in trouble, and deleting files does not delete them, saved IM's and where Yyou have been can all be tracked, even if it is off hours, so be aware

so true...

Addition: There are programmes you can get that shred files, even the ones that have been deleted so that your hard drive is clean.

my Ffriend may have made a bad choice.... but i will stand by my Ffriend... this world is way to quick to condemn based on what may or may not be polictically correct... when do Wwe say enough? i live my life different from Yyou... why is my life wrong and Yyour's is right? i am not committing a crime... are Yyou??? so when do Wwe stand up ??

brightspot -> RE: my best friend (3/12/2006 8:55:00 PM)

It would be really cool if you would stop the double lettering.
You are single and we are well aware that you are a sub/slave.
I just think Wwe, Yyou, Hhim Hher, gets to be a little much.
We know you now and it is more distracting than informative.

Edited to add especially when you phuck it up[:D], no really it would be easier to read oyur posts.

If you are paying these girls to work for you then why are they surfing the internet at all? I just don't understand that part.

I am always surprised how many people on pogo games are playing at work. I guess some just don't have enough to do.[:o]

As long as they get whatever needs doing done, thats fine. (Sorry for delay in posting that response, I missed the question). Example: There is a receptionist whose main duties are answering the phones and taking appointments, filing etc, the phone doesnt ring every minute of everyday, she has spare-time, I dont feel the need to fill it up.

kc692 -> RE: my best friend (3/12/2006 10:25:21 PM)

I have my own office and my own business, so that's a moot point there. I have started some freelance work for a company, and they have told me I am welcome to use a computer in the office they will be providing for me. All I said was I need the internet to get tasks accomplished for my own business while in their office. When they told me they had internet access, I told them I would prefer to bring my own laptop, so I am on my own equipment. I will also say from the other viewpoint, when I had employees last year, I did not care whther they got on the internet or where they went either, until one had multiple infestations on her computer, which manifested themselves over my server and hit all 5 of my computers, and until I went up front and my admin assistant had 6 windows open in yahoo im. I told them I was installing a keylogger and to stay off the internet, simply because since I didn't care, all their time started being consumed by things other than actual work. They also knew at the time that I visited this site at times while in the office, as they knew of my lifestyle. I just think, that sometimes the limits should be on the employees because the employer has decided it, and that is enough reason. To the OP, I'm not sure if you stated this or not..was the person aware of the company's policy? If she was there was no excuse to be on it, if her employer forbid it.
