There is a whole thread here:

Also, crampbark is supposed to work really well.
For me, valerian is helpful as well.

believe it or not the same breathing exercises women use when in labour work fantastically well.

this worked for me as a teenager, before ibuprofen was available otc.  I would just breathe and pretty much put myself in a meditative state.

Birth control pills always wound up being a temporary fix with problems worse than they were before when it was all said and done. Staying away from sources of synthetic hormones helps. I did really well when I was able to afford my scripts for bio identical hormone therapy. Anything that is handy for muscle cramps will help with period relief. I would also suggest things that are good female hormone balancers like evening primrose oil, wild yam, etc. Warm moist heat is good. Rest and even sleep are great. There is one potential that helps with hormone balance, pain, and all the rest, but I won't mention it here. Avoiding sodium, caffeine, sugar and making sure you are well hydrated are important too. Dark chocolate is good, but don't overindulge since it does contain some sugar and caffeine. It does have antioxidants that do help with mood and minor pain relief. Take good care!
