ORIGINAL: zephyroftheNorth I cannot believe all this fuss is over his kissing another man. Honestly I would have thought we would be beyond that but I guess not. As for kiddies having seen it, from what I understand it was almost 11pm when he performed, what the hell were small kidlets doing up and watching tv at that hour? Even if they were, I doubt they would be traumatized unless they saw a negative reaction from their parents. Honestly, I think using the "kiddie excuse" is grasping at straws. As Adam Lambert himself said in the interview, earlier performances with Janet Jackson grabbing a male dancer's crotch and Lady Gaga's performance involving liquor bottles have met with no comments at all. When Brittany Spears and Madonna shared the full on open mouthed kiss, there was a little uproar, but no blurring it out. When you think about it, while it is not on every television show, there have certainly been plenty of gay characters shown on television, both in daytime soaps and on prime time shows. They have been shown kissing, and if I'm not mistaken even shown naked in bed together. So what makes Lambert's performance so shocking? Perhaps because he refuses to apologize for who he is presents a bigger problem. Years ago, although I don't recall any blatently sexual acts with the people on stage with them, David Bowie and Ziggy Stardust certainly presented images that were "out there" for their time. I think Adam Lambert is an extremely talented performer and look forward to seeing him for years to come. Perhaps some are worried because he may be able to not only outsing many of his male counterparts, but a good number of the women as well?
