I'll let ya know in a few years.

'77 was fun. I was so innocent then. Of so much. I think that's why it was such fun. :)

But my favorite time so far was when I was in my late 30s. 1994? '95? Just a very happy time for me. I felt charmed, like nothing harmful could touch me. Totally illusory, but blissful to think so. :)

On the other hand, the now is always pretty interesting. Even when it's really bad. My current now is mixed. It can't seem to make up its mind. :/

When was life best, well, my answer to that is now, and the past four years, for it is a time when I am finally learning about who I am and my place in the world, after years of confusion and a childhood full of blanks. I have explained to others, I actually for the first time in my life actually feel free, and I envisage life just getting better, as I drift further and further away from all the miserable bullshit that is daily life in this country. Yeah, I might be single, I might not have any money, nor property, but because of that, I have freedom and I feel it, and it is such a wonderful feeling. All the things in life I used to be scared of, I no longer am, and the world looks like a whole new country to explore.

Have I ever mentioned to you how much some of your posts sound like haiku? I think that was truly beautiful.

Not sure which year would be best, so I am going to go with the present.

1977 is the year I graduated and while I was very grateful to be done with school, I can't say I would want to go back there.

I many times think that modern life isn't for me.  I'd go back to the pre-christian Viking age or the Renaissance, (post plauge)  when the church started to lose its grip on many people and said people were allowed to start thinking. Granted, no air conditioning, cars, indoor plumbing or modern medicine, but honor still meant something, chivalry wasn't stomped on, and justice was doing what was right rather than a arbitrary set of laws that benefits no one.

It is hard to say life isn't so bad now, it has had its ups and downs. But I am always looking to the future and hoping for a brighter horizon for the human species.

1977 was the worst year ever, until 2006 & 2007 surpassed it.

This current year is the best ever, and I suspect next year will be even better.  [:)]

LE, '77 was a terrible year for me!
I'd say from 1994 to 2002 were very good for me, I made a shitload of money in the stock market and I mean hundreds of thousands and I spent a lot of it too! Nice brandnew trucks, cars, hookers! Yee Hah!!!

It may be affected by a rose tinted view influenced by a childhood that was relatively happy until then - but I would like to nominate 1977 as the year in which life was best. Life was simple, we were happier than we realised and happier than we've been since.

What do you think? Which year (or period of years) would you nominate as the best in which to live?

E

Probably the years I lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
