KMsAngel: No, not really, but you could be a "fag hag."  Usually terrible cook / seamstress / floral arranger / musician / dancer / singer.... let's see what else?  Well, EVERTHING except - heart of gold, secret keeper - sister you never had and always wanted to go shopping with. LOL!  Grace from Will & Grace.

Well, you might since you have the  two main requirements - heart-o'gold and can keep secrets.  Quilting?  Check this out:
www.gzquilt.com My sister made it!  Click on center twice.  And if you make a comment, please do NOT mention where you got link.

And now, back to our originally scheduled program of T-day meals.....

forgot to mention:

Redwine with dinner
Ginger beer and Sparkling cider for non-alcoholics
Coffee with dessert

Two slaves to serve - they ate at table, but any request was imediately fulfilled. "More coffee" for example.  AND the best part of all - one packaged food to go while other started dishes. Host said farewells as one collected our coats.  DAMN!  that was fine...........

Some kinkster friends invited me over, and assured me it was kid-friendly.  There was a total of 12 of us.  At one point at the dinner table, discussing the lit candles on the table and candlewax, someone was skirting dangerously close to the edge of inappropriate, so I loudly started saying, "LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA" until everybody shut up and looked at me and asked me what was up.  I said, "inappropriate!" and everybody laughed.  My kids are 5 and 14.

Immediately my little one, who was sitting next to me, laid her head on my chest, and I said, "get your head off my BOOB!" and everyone else at the table started in with the "LA LA LA LA LA" right back at me.  I almost fell off my chair laughing.

There was a huge appetizer spread with cucumber sandwiches, green olives stuffed with pepper jack cheese, spanakopita (greek phyllo triangles stuff with spinach), veggies, meatballs, pigs in a blanket, etc.  We could easily have made that a full meal.

For the main course we could have fed at least another dozen or so people.

turkey and ham
mashed potatoes and gravy
green bean casserole (made with homemade cream of mushroom soup, none of that canned business)
stuffing
macaroni and cheese
candied sweet potatoes
rice pilaf
green salad
an assortment of breads and rolls
homemade chunky cranberry sauce

For dessert, you might as well have rolled us out the door, we ate so much.  There was pumpkin pie and an assortment of cookies.  Then there was my contribution.  Yes, "diabetic coma" was my ultimate goal for everyone.  I made:

"Kill or Die Lemon Pie".  A tried-and-true recipe.  A bit labor-intensive, but I make it for special occasions.  And I made three of them last night... one for thanksgiving, one as a gift for a friend, and one that I promised to someone for her birthday last week (but circumstances beyond my control prevented it from happening on her birthday).

Oh My My Chocolate Pie - a new recipe for me, that produced a pie that is similar to chocolate silk pie, but more dense and more intense.  Topped with freshly whipped cream and chocolate curls and shavings.  This is a keeper.

Dutch Apple Pie - another new recipe for me, and this one is a keeper as well.  I used very tart granny smith apples, and the pie was topped with caramel sauce and freshly whipped cream (no cool whip for our thanksgiving).  The combination of tart apples and caramel sauce was fabulous.

I wasn't too sure how the apple pie was going to turn out, with the very tart apples, plus when I took it out of the oven and held it up to look at the bottom thru the glass pie dish, it looked like the crust had "dissolved" into the filling.  I thought we might end up eating it in bowls with whipped cream or ice cream, but other than the crust sticking QUITE a bit in places, it was great.  But because I didn't know how it was going to taste, I decided to make a batch of fudge.  This was a new recipe for me as well (which was unusual - normally I only spring one new recipe on people at one time), but it turned out so smooth and creamy (no grainy texture), and was a simple recipe, that this will go into my regular file.

Lessee...

"Brunch" was:
... orange rolls
... scrambled eggs, with pico de gaillo (sunny, did i spell that right?) salsa
... sparkling champagne
... water (someone forgot to pick up some milk at the store)

Snacks were:
... Tostito's "Scoops" chips
... ice cream, the good vanilla kind
... my sister had went out and gotten some Sprinkles cupcakes, but i was good and didn't have any tonight... (had half of one yesterday, though)
... sodas
... coffee

Dinner (finally at around 8:30pm) was:
... one 19lbs turkey dad (well, it was a joint effort between my dad and my brother) cooked on the grill
... greenbean casserole
... fresh acorn squash
... cranberries
... fresh rolls
... stuffing, which i was good and didn't have any

Dessert was:
... baklava
... and i'm pretty sure there's pumpkin pie still somewhere, too, which we didn't get to

Turkey
stuffing
homemade mashed potatoes and gravy
green bean casserole
deviled eggs
olives black and green
carrot sticks
celery plain and stuffed
sweet, dill and bnb pickles
cranberry sauce
ambrosia
rolls
pumpkin pie
cherry pie
whipped topping
ice cream

I am so stuffed! So good. Took me 4 hours before I could finally have dessert.

Ambrosia?  The whipped cream thing with the pineapple and cherries and coconut and such?  If I'm thinking the right thing, that is...  I haven't had that in YEARS!  Oh god that sounds good!  I may have to add that into the mix for the Christmas feast-ival.  Think my list looks insane now?  You should come by then.  We're talking Bacchanalian in scope.

Not that I love the holiday season or anything, mind you...  I also need a second stove/oven.  >.<

EDIT: to add... Fry bread has been requested for the Saturday menu too. :)

Being Australian and never having had a Thanksgiving dinner...I have never heard of 'Green Bean Casserole' until today, what exactly is it/the recipe?? I am really curious now, especially as some either love it or loathe it. Thanks in advance.

The most classic recipe can be found here:

http://www.campbellkitchen.com/recipedetail.aspx?recipeID=24099
(sorry, the link button is not working for me this minute)

and looks like this:

Classic Green Bean Casserole

1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup (Regular or 98% Fat Free)

1/2 cup milk

1 teaspoon soy sauce

Dash ground black pepper

4 cups cooked cut green beans

1 1/3 cups French's® French Fried Onions

1. Stir the soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, beans and 2/3 cup onions in a 1 1/2-quart casserole.
2. Bake at 350°F. for 25 minutes or until the bean mixture is hot and bubbling. remove from oven and stir the bean mixture.
3. Sprinkle with the remaining onions. Heat broiler and return casserole to heat, under broiler. Broil for 5 minutes or until the onions are golden brown.

RECIPE TIPS
Tip: Use 1 bag (16 to 20 ounces) frozen green beans, 2 packages (9 ounces each) frozen green beans, 2 cans (about 16 ounces each) green beans or about 1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans for this recipe.
For Broccoli Casserole, substitute 4 cups cooked broccoli flowerets for the green beans.
For cheese lovers, stir in 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese with soup. Omit the soy sauce. Sprinkle with an additional 1/4 cup Cheddar cheese when adding the remaining onions.
To add a festive touch, stir in 1/4 cup chopped red pepper with the soup.
To add crunch, add 1/4 cup toasted sliced almonds to the onion topping.
For bacon lovers, add 2 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled, to the bean mixture.
For Golden Green Bean Cassrole, substitute Campbell's® Condensed Golden Mushroom Soup for the Cream of Mushroom Soup. Omit the soy sauce. Stir in 1/4 cup chopped red pepper with the green beans.

Faggot orphan meal - no other place to go - 7 of us decided to try to outdo each other:

Antipasto platter - 4 cheeses, two slamis (sp?), sliced tomatoes, tortollinei (sp?), assorted olives, marinated artichoke hearts (last three in individual red cabbabge leaf bowl)

I made my locally famous "Canape Florentine" (aka spinach balls - but too much laughter ensues) Youghurt and curry dip.

Main course:

Brined (and roasted) Turkey/ gravy from drippings
Homemade Cranberry sauce cooked in red wine and sugar
Mashed Potatoes w/ garlic
Dressing

3 different vegetables:
I made my traditional Peas and pearl onions in bechamel (sp?) sauce with nutmeg
Steamed Mixed veggies in light butter sauce (carrotts, bell peppers, snow peas, etc.)
Brussel sprouts - grilled, chilled with light vinagrette

Two kinds of rolls with hand churned, sweetened butter

Pies:
Apple with top crust a'la Ms. Stewart: use leaf shaped cookie cutters to make enough leaves to overlap the piled extra-high apples leaving enough room for vents and juices to run down leaf veins.....

"Regular" Pumpkin pie baked in a pumpkin-shaped pan with cookie leaves (see pie above) decorating surface.. twisted and curled as if falling from stem.

Gluten-free crust for third: Carmel rice cakes crushed as if graham crackers, brown sugar and butter. (Saved some of crust for stusel-type crumbles.)  Bluberry pie mix from can - hardly enough, so cut canned pears into it...... strusel on top.

Use real whipping cream - flavored with honey and cinnamon for last two....... oh, did I mention that's where the sweet butter came from - first batch went waaaaay too long. LOL!

Damn Lance, now that is a menu!....

tsatske's recipe is pretty much the way I do it, though I'm allergic to mushrooms, so I use cream of celery soup.  I also add worchestershire sauce, some fresh onions and garlic, and up the french fried onion quotient.
