Interestingly, the original story that CNN was broadcasting Friday night was that his wife "freed" him from the SUV by bashing in the back window with the golf club. (I was sitting in an airport watching it.) Also, for the record, news reporters use words like "apparently", "allegedly", and "according to" to keep themselves from getting sued. It's called attribution. Unless you have absolute proof to back up your information, you can be sued and lose by simply stating facts the way you see them. Saying something "allegedly" happened covers your butt some because it implies that you are only reporting what you heard from another source, or what it appears to be, you're not actually making the statement. Lame, but it is a libel or slander defense loophole.

If she smashed the window out it was to get at him not get him out. I'm waiting for the "Tiger Woods jokes" anytime now! Hey, didn't that Kennedy kid use a 6 iron to kill his next door neighbor, Martha Moxley? Nasty club that.
