I'm sure there is a lot of rubbish said by people.
But there must be some that are serious.
Money = Power and a big turn on for some people.

Supporting someone financially must be a big buzz in many ways, and must touch feelings of control and power (or lack of) on so many levels.
Possibly supporting a dom is sort of like keeping control or making sure they will always be there for you.

In a way when I put it into perspective, I could see myself wanting to be the kind of Dom who, upon finding the right sub, would want to take care of her, want to spoil her in a way. (Probably the "Daddy" Dom in me) However, I would want to find and be in a long lasting relationship with that person before that of course, not just something right off the bat but it is very similar making the flip side (the girl who just wants her daddy to take care of her) also more valid.

I didn't see anything wrong with your post at all. Yes, there are people out there who want to leave their troubles behind them, some that want to be homemakers and some that want to be kidnapped and enslaved. There will always be people around who think that bdsm is the answer to their issues, it doesnt matter if it is life problems or horny fantasies.
The obvious ones are pretty easy to spot, the others are slow to reveal themselves. That is where taking the time to get to know someone before asking them to join you is important. Personally.. and excuse me for being evil here but.. I think anyone who is not getting to know their potential partner before getting entangled deserves what they get.
I see way too many people who are so desperate to have someone they don't look at the contents of the box before they rip the packaging to bits, making return very unlikely.

So, while I think it's pretty stinking that people will use bdsm to duck out of life.. I think it is just as bad to jump in without examining the dangers.

Let me clarify... that's not the case.

I saw something interesting, and I posted because I wanted to hear the opinions of others, get different points of view, and in general just start a conversation. Basically the tone I meant was "Hey guys, I just noticed this... what do you think about it."

I already skip over the profiles that clearly state what I don't want, I'm neither worried or upset with them... just thought it was something interesting to talk about.

If someone wants a "traditional" relationship, what is wrong with that? Truly, at my age, I am SET to be a wealthy housewife! Imagine, just working because I ENJOY it, not because that freakin blue cross payment is due!

A good friend of mine, LL.B., MBA, Executive left it all to be wife to a rich and powerful man. She recently called me looking for some contracts because she's so bored!

I can't imagine never working. If I came into money, I might work less and go back to contract consulting.

I can't imagine not working, either! After all these years, how could I not have money that I earned myself? But it would be grand to just pursue a career in fiber arts, go back to doing art shows... just doing a hundred or so tax returns for favourite clients..

You know while we're on that whole subject. I have a friend, one of my best friends in college, top of her class, a brilliant mind, great job in Bio-Chemistry doing stuff I can't even pronounce, but she loves just being a housewife. I think the only reason she went to college and got a job is because it was just the expected thing to do. She's so content just raising a kid and doing home maker things.

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with wanting someone to take care of you financially, or vice versa. I just think that if you lead your search with that quality it all ends up too mercenary.  I wouldn't want a man to think my submission can be purchased.

On the other hand, you do realize that historically many people became slaves or indentured servants precisely because they did become impoverished? And nowadays there are still people who do self-sales due to financial hardship. Just food for thought.

I will put it in a different viewpoint. IF you have the money it is used as a tool to get what you want. There are many people who do have the funds to do what is purposed but to prove it is harder unless you just show the sub your brokerage statement. I will say that if you do not work there is still plenty ot keep you occupied. I have friends who are very happy not working.
As to paying enough to keep a sub it is not much different than if you give 50 or 100K to charity each year. If you are not in the asset bracket it is hard to comprehend but there are people who can do as stated. Now on the other side of the coin a sub who is honest about what she is searching for and willing to give up for security. That is the true idea of power exchange to give up power in return for care and leadership and control.

Acccckkkkk!!!!! Just raising a kid??? Just homemaker things??? It takes no brains, skill, energy, or effort or something? sighs I must be doing it all wrong. And nope, I'm not going to buy that being a chemical engineer is more important or difficult than raising a child or making a dish taste just right or getting that damned spot out of the rug...again! I hate that discounted vibe I get when I say that I stay home and raise my kids. I hate it even more since some of those oh so easy "homemaker things" are extremely difficult for me with my health. It makes such a person feel like a useless, simpleminded twit. And it is hilarious how many working people do so on the backs of those of us that stay at home. I am neighborhood babysitter, tutor, chef to the masses, etc since many folks are not home to do any of these things and I enjoy it. Also, it is the stay at home folks who has it as practically a full time, unpaid job to work with volunteer organizations that keep communities going and thriving and provide vital services and it is a joy to be able to serve in that way. Some people don't do any of these things. Some people truly are lazy, sitting around with nothing better to do than watch TV and eat all day long. Most of us, however, are a segment of society that would be sorely missed if we disappeared. Sorry. Off my soapbox now.

I'd love to not work, not because I'm lazy, but there are other things I'd rather pursue in life that are not job related (ex. traveling, my writing, and drawing) I don't think I could get bored doing those things all day, in fact that'd be a great life to me. To not work and just do what I want, to me that would be awesome! On the same token, I like having a job because it helps maintain my independence, I don't have to depend on someone else for getting whatever I want when I want it. So in all honesty, I guess I'd be most happiest if I could turn one of my beloved hobbies into a lucrative career, that would be the life right there!

I learned how to find a balance. I take my camera with me almost everywhere and often take my laptop to work to edit photos during lunch if the weather discourages my normal lunch time walk. I work with my horses and dogs evenings and weekends. I fit my painting and sculpture in between all of the above. I never get bored and do not worry about free time.

Long holiday weekends like I just had are awesome! I did some riding, snapped some photos and edited a few for printing. I also spent a lot of time on two paintings I am working on.

It's all good.

My post was by no stretch of the imagination intended to imply that you or anyone else are somehow worthless because you are a homemaker.

I was responding to a previous post made by LadyAngelika in which I compared her friend, who stays at home and is apparently bored, and my friend, who, despite going through the motions of college and career, has always wanted to be a housewife and is significantly more content just doing that and nothing else, the point being, she could have never gone to college and gotten a degree in Biochemistry and been just as happy.

Of course, once you start doing something you enjoy for a living, it isn't as much fun anymore. That's what I've discovered in time.

Man, it doesn't seem I can do anything right today! LOL That was a generalize response and not directed at you. My apologies.

My frustration lies with this strange idea people have that staying at home and doing the domestic side of things is so much easier than having a job. It just isn't so. It is a mistake men in my life have made too to think that only their day could be exaughsting, frustrating, etc. I am so thankful for my psych degree every time I have to outmanuever my kids or work out a deal with the neighbors for a much needed outing over the weekend. I am quite content with being the one that stays home, but I do appreciate simple recognition that what I do matters. Back to the original point of the post, I also see no reason not to be properly taken care of, including the occasional want or silly, frivolous thing. I also should hope that I will be taken care of now and in the future just as I have cared for my family day in and day out. If I am expected to keep the house, then I can expect the house to keep me.

lol. This is a humorous topic...I'd say that there are just as many Dominants who want the subs to pay them "tributes" and be their atm sluts as there are subbies who want to be kept. I guess sooner or later that subbies would follow suit. lol.
