SOOOO BACK TO THE ACTUAL TOPIC

I'm probably similar to your dom in that in normal life I tend to be very easy going non aggressive guy and even though I was the one pushing for d/s in the bedroom I was going too easy on my subs. It was more out of worrying about how they felt with the whole d/s setup rather than my one issues.

The green/yellow/red suggestion is excellent, but instruct him to continue to increase intensity at least until you say, "yellow". He's new to this and concerned for you and he's got to know what your comfortable with too. With a d/s relationship every sexual session you have can be completely different but it would be beneficial to do very similar things in each session until he's more comfortable.

Personally, for any pain play with a new sub I set up the situation so she puts herself in the situation to feel the pain when she's ready. This lets him know its ok. Example: If you want him to be comfortable with giving you a hard spanking. Lean against a wall with your ass way out. You natural reaction (or fake if he's too timid to hit you hard enough at first) will be to move your ass towards the wall. Let him know that when the pain subsides and your ready to get spanked again you'll stick your ass out again.
