Oh dear! Well welcome aboard Des and her Man!

DarkSteven -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/3/2009 5:29:46 PM)

I'm at 195 at 5'9".  I lost ten pounds over the past two months to get there...

Do we hafta play by losing weight, or can we get taller instead?

DesFIP -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/3/2009 5:31:21 PM)

My mother used to say she was the perfect weight if only she were 8 feet tall.
I share your pain Steven.

lovingpet -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/3/2009 5:36:23 PM)

Hubby is 6'1" and his "avg" weight should be 175 so even growing 7 inches you 20 to go. And inches gained in the penile area don't count! LOL Welcome about DS!

mdr -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/3/2009 5:39:15 PM)

I fluctuate between 223 to 230-someodd. I was 275 to 285 at my heaviest, and in the past couple years, I was 210 at my lightest, but I looked gaunt. Lost all the damn weight in my face. I would actually like to maintain a 220 weight and work on shifting the gut up to the chest (muscle wise).

I am 6 foot on most convenient store cameras. But probably 5'11. I hate to think height, I feel like I am shrinking sometimes, while other times I feel taller.

I am not really looking to lose, just relocate the excess I guess is the key point to take away from this.

Welcome aboard mdr! We all wish your "move" great success!

I am always promising to drop 10 or 15 lbs. One of my greatest finds: Quinoa (Keen-wa), one of the superfoods, no gluten and it looks and taste much like couscous but it is actually from the kale family - a complete protein with all the necessary amino acids - no fat, no cholesterol. I think it is a perfect substitute for rice, pasta and other yummy things that help you feel full and happy. It is in a lot of stores but always in natural markets, super cheap too!
Green tea too, 3 to 4 cups a day.

I'm in.

figwee.com is pretty handy in figuring out just how 'bad' some stuff is.

Welcome aboard to both and thank you for some great information!

GoddessImaginos -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/3/2009 5:58:58 PM)

Thanx for holding the fort so graciously, dearest lp, and WELCOME ABOARD to Steven, mdr, DesFIP and her man, MistressEllen, curiousINct, and anyone that I am currently distracted enough to not have mentioned..
I agree with mdr, in that it's not that I want to lose huge enormous numbers, I just want to tone things up and build muscle; I am currently about 210 and stacked like a shorter than, redhaired Xena (stout), and if I could get down to like 165-170, I would be tickled slap to death.. wait, I probably shouldn't have stated it quite like that, but hey.. [;)]
Actually, for Me I think I'm going to call it looking for a loss of a nice even 50 lbs., which still places Me at about 160, which shockingly enough places Me still in the "overweight" category of most doctors' office charts and other inaccuracies - I bloody well don't need to weigh 140 lbs., I'd look ill.[:'(]

mdr,

Don't forget muscle tissue is about 20% heavier than fat tissue for the same volume.

Therefore if, after a period of exercise/dieting, you are the same 'size' ie volume, but have a greater mucle to fat ratio, you can actually be heavier.

Of course, this is a really tough thing to do, even for elite athletes. Gaining 5 pounds of muscle mass is infinitely harder than losing 5 pounds of fat.

Although I get what you mean appearance-wise, you should lose the notion of 'shifting' what you have. If you exercise to lose your fat, you will notice that you look more lean and muscular if at the same time you weight or resistance train to develop muscle mass, or tone what muscle mass you have.

Good luck.

Thanx for stopping by, Ebony. Care to join us? I would offer cookies, but.. guess that's yet another habit I'm going to have to change.. [:D]

EbonyWood -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/3/2009 6:31:37 PM)

Well..... now that you mention cookies.

I've been my own Big Loser before. After finishing playing football. I gained weight. I don't know a guy who hasn't.

You go from a heavy exercise regime with food to match to a more sedentary career, by which time you and your body has learned to love high calory food which you could previously burn.

So a few years back in 6 months I lost 80 pounds I had gained over the previous 5 years. I can't apply the same intensity now but I do enough to maintain my good self, about 225 lbs for my 6'4.

The fattest guys I know are ex athletes and ex weight lifters. They stop training for whatever reason but have ingrained eating habits. The common expression is that "the muscle has turned to fat"  Well, no, that can't happen but you can put a fat layer on what you have. These guys also have busted up knees so can't run, so it just becomes compounded.

Anyway, Im happy to be a judge, eat some cookies and 'weigh' in with advice for what it's worth. I wish everyone luck and remember that the race is not always to the swiftest.

I'm in.  I only need to lose about 20 lbs, but never seem to get there.  I also want to work on toning and being a buffster.

In any case, I spent 45 mins on the Wii Fit tonight!

Oh yeah!

lovingpet -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/3/2009 6:53:01 PM)

Welcome aboard trappy! [:)]

My goal is large, but I'm not as worried about losing weight as I am in feeling well.

GoddessImaginos -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/3/2009 7:05:49 PM)

My goal of 50 lbs. is more medium, I think. But lp makes a good point, and lest the noble notion parroting the television counterpart of this thread be mistaken: this is not necessarily about a race to win, or big numbers. This is about fellowship and sharing, because those things always make a difference, no matter what the task or issue at hand.
Sending love and light to each and every one of you..

sunshinemiss -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/3/2009 7:10:28 PM)

I have a friend that I do this with - we have our very own private yahoo, just the two of us, and we send each other notes with our plans for the week and our successes (and failures).  I'm doing really good with that.  Don't know if I can be in the gang here, too, but I'd sure like to be!

Let's share the love!

lovingpet -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/3/2009 7:13:26 PM)

Rock on Sunshine! Of course you can join up! Welcome!

yourdarkdesire -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/3/2009 7:16:18 PM)

You guys have reeled me in.  My profile pic was taken 3 years ago at a svelt 175 lbs.  I am now hovering around the 260 mark.  The things that happen when you are forced to end your career and go from workin 3 days a week to doing nothing.

Kalista07 -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (12/3/2009 7:22:20 PM)

Since I've been magically losing weight for a while now...And am up to 13 pounds at this point I guess I would like to join as well.....

At this point I must tell you that I am getting ready to go round 2 with the gazelle....

Who shall win????

Kali
