I can't speak for others, But your assertion of male subs just wanting to play reads like the typically biased stereo typing.

If I am looking for kinky play I wouldn't be going to a munch in a public place looking to do that. Rest asured I don't plan on playing with some stranger; that's not even a first date.

Ironically the last munch I attended, on the second floor of a bar. Publicly accessable by the way. Almost all the sub girls present lined up for the spanking bench, and the violet wand. Assuming sub guys just want to play then we can extrapolate that I must have been the only male sub at the munch. Least of which was that I didn't play. But that's your corner of the universe, and maybe you frequent far more munches than me.

No I didn’t mean to start fights. Be nice and respectful to everyone there. If someone is disrespectful towards you let him know about it, don’t just grab the nearest chair and break it over his head. I have been attending munches here in Cincinnati for about 5 years now for 2 different groups (although we are now down to one- PEER) and am a member of others in Dayton and Indy. It has been my experience that they are as comfortable/uncomfortable as you make them. I have never had a problem with any Dom or Domina, male or female sub/slave/Switch. It seems that most are there to catch up with friends and meet new people who share their interests. A couple of these are generally well attended (30- 50), and definately the lowest representation is the male sub. I have at times been the only one, or one of 3 or 4. At the Cincy munch, I am pretty much the only collared one there, the others who occasionally show up are there as singles. And there are always more single Dominas than subs.

I can understand the outting fear, and even the outright shyness that can keep you at home... alone..... in front of your computer (I overcame both, so can you). It's no different than any 'nilla meeting situation, you often have to make the first gesture. But don't let fear make the decision for you. I met my Owner/Mistress thru another i met at a munch years before, and have made many friends from them.

I do also want to say that Mistress and I have attend the FemDom munch that (I believe) you are referring to. It is run by a Pro House, but there are non Pros who will stop by as well. It is a fine group of Ladies, and a fun time.

But back to th OP, maybe it does come down mostly to fears. And I suppose you would have to throw some HNG action in there as well. But I have never been hit on by a Dom, never looked down upon by a "sister", and never assumed to be gay (well once, but it was a gay leather event we were vending at. So that doesn't really count). With my I come into contact with hundreds of people a day, and have never run into one of them at any BDSM event. So any "outting" is of my own doing. These are just my experiences, and are not too out of the ordinary I wouldn't think. And thanks for listening.
