Lactation is not dependent on the female hormones for success. In other cultures, induced lactation is done by the mothers and even grandmothers of pregnant women as a back up in case the woman can't nurse her own child (lack of production, illness, even death). PCOS can make it more difficult, but that is another issue. I'd be happy to discuss it further with you if it is a consideration, but just being peri or even post menopausal isn't an issue. Keep in mind though that some women simply cannot induce lactation regardless of hormone levels, stimulation, prior breastfeeding experiences, etc. I have lots of information on how to do it if you decide you want to go forward. Please just c mail me. lovingpet
