I really believe you subscribe to two standards Lucy. Otherwise why do you get so heated over my positing a universal truth such as my statement that "if someone is hateful... then no, they don't belong in positions of power and responsibility, regardless of color or party."

mmmmmmm then please tell me where Obama has been hateful.
Not Wright, Not Whatisface, but from Obama???
Just Obama, (not trying to put words in his mouth by his relationships with outspoken men)
ask Mrs Tiger Woods about relationships and having the same beliefs in everything.

You are trawling for the smallest nibble casting obfuscation everywhere and never answering for yourself.
Hateful to me would be starting a war with a country that had nothing to do with 9/11
Hateful would be displacing a million innocents for oil
Hateful would be starting a war that kills more US citizens than 9/11 did
Hateful is not looking after those US citizens fighting the war.
Hateful is leaving those innnocents without homes or livelihoods yet declaring you set them free
shall I go on?
You have been hateful towards Obama than he has been hateful towards you...do I get to send you to a corner?....dammit thats Mod 11s department, oh well....I wouldnt anyway, I know the difference
definitions are a bitch aint they?
so... whatcha got for me?

Gee, Sanity. The American people elected Obama. So obviously America can't do anything right or proper in your eyes. It's a shame you hate your country so much.

LoL

You know, the BTK killer was a preacher as well. I guess by sanity's (lack of) logic, there's an entire congregation of serial killers running around now.

What cracks me up is the way some conservatives scream with rage at the horror of being called racists, when their lives are not impacted by it at all. They also write endlessly about how they are being discriminated against and having their right to free speech curtailed when all that has happened is someone has requested they shut up. On the other hand, when dealing with people who have real problems based on systemic discrimination (economic, legal and social) and they expect them to say "Pardon me, but maybe it's not the best idea to do things this way".

It is a double standard worthy of bronzing.

Don't waste your time, Loki. Sooner or later there are going to be some who try to brand Obama as a womanizer because they can't tell him from Tiger Woods.

LOL.

I wouldn't call that womanizing, I'd call it being a straight-up pimp. ;-)

Not to hijack the thread, but Tiger Woods has what is an age old problem for golfers. He can drive the ball straight as an arrow but he can't control his putz.

Oh well, once he kicks his gold-digging wife to the curb, he can putt wherever he wants to.

But either way, it has NOTHING to do with Barak Obama. Let's get used to repeating that. It may become necessary.

Other interesting things:

Reversing R and D to make it appear a Republican won, and Mislabeling Mark Foley, the Congressman who harrassed teenage boys on his staff, as Democrat: http://mediamatters.org/research/200610130010

There are many more such examples, all going the same way.

Wow. That's some pretty damning evidence. I can't wait to see how the fox fans dance around those links.

If the past is any indication, they'll do a few things:

1) Trot out Dan Rather as a show of how awful the "liberal media" is
2) Claim that these are "innocent mistakes" and point out a three month old error in the "shipping news" section of the NYT to show that all news organizations have these errors.
3) Claim that Fox is being picked on because they aren't part of the liberal, left-wing, media conspiracy.

There may be some minor variations, but that's pretty much what the game plan seems to be.

And Fox is up to their same old tricks again. There is a push to get the Susan G Komen Foundation to stop using donations to pay Hadassah Lieberman as "Ambassador" because of her ties to the pharmaceutical industry and to her husband's flip-flopping.

If you believe Fox, that is the doing of one lone blogger. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/12/14/blog-wants-celebs-help-oust-liebermans-wife-breast-cancer-cure-group/

Never mind that a few sentences later they call the dozens of celebrities supporting this movement "unreliable". Note how they use things these celebrities didn't even have anything to do with: using something Brinkley's HUSBAND did, and the fact that Cynthia Nixon was outed.

quote:

The list of Hollywood celebrities Firedoglake is calling on for help might not be the most reliable, either. Hamsher wants to punish Lieberman in part because of her husband's stand on health care reform -- yet several celebs on the list have themselves endured heavy public scrutiny or attention over their significant others. Christie Brinkley, Cynthia Nixon, Trisha Yearwood and DeGeneres are all on the list.
Brinkley's bitter divorce from husband Peter Cook thrust her back into the public spotlight after years of a seemingly perfect marriage. In the summer of 2006, revelations surfaced that Cook, now 50, had engaged in a secret affair with his then-barely legal office assistant, Diana Bianchi.

When Cynthia Nixon was outed as a lesbian at the height of her "Sex and the City" fame, she slammed the press for digging for information about her lover.  "She's just a private citizen who would like to remain private," Nixon reportedly told the prying press.

That's absolutely ridiculous - everyone knows the awful liberal media is figureheaded by the deplorable Dan Rather, and I know better than to trust the words that come from the teleprompter to the tv broadcast if they're filtered through his mouth. These are innocent mistakes! May I direct your attention to this outdated and wildly irrelevant error in the New York Times - see, they printed 'to' instead of 'too', and the only reason this flaw in the liberal media didn't make headlines is because it's a grammatical conspiracy organized by the left-wing socialists! FOX rules!

*tee hee* sarcasm doesn't always translate well in written media, but I love playing the devil's advocate...
That said, the news anchor either has had a frontal lobotomy since she studied at Stanford and Oxford (I think it's free with the facelift/tummy tuck package at Trophy Wives 'R' Us) or she's clearly dumbing down the information to reach the audience. When your knuckles drag the ground, it's hard to catch more than a couple syllables at a time so small words are best - and tvs keep getting bigger...abstract concepts from that height freakin' hurt! Her sympathetic idiocy was probably the producer's idea to keep the Fox demographic engaged - I mean, I certainly don't know what a czar is (what am I, a book-readin' socialist with some fancy public school education?!) - but accepting some personal responsibility wouldn't be inappropriate.
If any of this wasn't understood.....google it. You know you want to.

I have not read the whole thread... nor will i to make this comment.

When a woman has to dummy down for a job, we are in trouble. She is a rhodes scholar, not some nit wit politician who crawled her way up the ranks. Studied at Oxford... Plays classical violin. Ya know, i would give her far more credit for displaying her intelligence then for dummying down to reach her audience. Most people tune in to be informed, to learn, not to be told they are too stupid to understand words beyond.. duh.
